Restless Development is a global agency committed for youth-led development. Restless Development put young people at the forefront of its interventions. Restless Development believes that transformative change happen when young people not only deliver the actions but also inform and influence the decision making. Restless Development recognizes that the rights of women and girls are fundamental human rights. Key to this is that women and girls are entitled to live with dignity, without fear and as equal partners in society. Restless Development strives to enhance the rights and status of women and girls through addressing issues such as sexual and gender based violence (SGBV), school retention, menstrual health management and child, early and forced marriage.

Restless Development Nepal has been implementing the programmes to end GBV and harmful social norms since a decade. For the prevention of GBV cases, we have been capacitating the young people as ‘young leaders’ and they have been rigorously engaging with their peers and the community people including teachers, community leaders, police, religious leaders and many more. We empower the women and girls to have a voice on the issues that concern them and their communities. Recognizing the relationship between poverty and sexual health for women in particular, our work focuses on economic empowerment of women and girls.

Restless Development Nepal is implementing an exciting youth led programme, International Citizen Service (ICS) since 2011. ICS is led by VSO and funded by UK Government. In this programme, youth from UK are paired with youth from Nepal and placed in rural communities for development impact along with opportunity for their personal and professional development which will help them to be an active citizen.

ABOUT THIS ROLE:

We are looking for the position of Volunteer Team leaders (VTLs) and Volunteer Peer Educator (VPEs) someone who is highly motivated and committed to work in rural communities of Sindhuli district together with international volunteers with following criteria

Age between 18 - 25 for Volunteers (23 plus for Team Leaders)
Minimum of 10+2 education with fluency in English
Be passionate to stay in a rural community in full cycle of programme

For Volunteer Team Leaders (VLTs): September to December 2017

For Volunteer Peer Educators: October to December 2017

Volunteers will act as an ambassador of Restless Development and a good role model for the local youths and communities. Volunteers have to work with school teachers and students, community youth, and government officials

This is a pure volunteer service and not a job. You can learn and gain practical skills and hands on work experience of working in the development sector. Volunteers will be provided basic food and accommodation (in host family in the community) with nominal allowance during the placement period
