We are seeking an experienced and visionary Vice Principal (Academic Head) to lead the academic operations of a well-established school in Kathmandu. The successful candidate will provide strategic academic leadership, ensure excellence in teaching and learning, mentor faculty members, oversee student development, and foster a culture of continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with Nepal's educational standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Academic Leadership & Curriculum
- Provide overall academic leadership across all grades and sections
- Plan, implement, and review the curriculum in line with the National Curriculum Framework and school priorities
- Ensure curriculum delivery is competency-based, student-centred, and compliant with current regulations
- Lead academic quality assurance: setting standards and monitoring outcomes across the school
2. Teacher Supervision & Development
- Conduct regular classroom observations and provide structured, constructive feedback to teachers
- Lead lesson plan review and ensure planning standards are consistently met
- Mentor and coach teachers: particularly new staff and those needing improvement
- Design and implement a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme for teaching staff
- Conduct teacher performance reviews in coordination with HR
3. Timetable, Assessment & Examinations
- Plan and manage the school timetable across all sections
- Oversee all internal assessments, examinations, and result processing
- Ensure assessment practices align with Continuous Assessment System (CAS) requirements
- Coordinate with Section In-Charges on assessment schedules and reporting to parents
4. Student Discipline & Welfare
- Own student discipline: establishing clear, fair, and consistent policies and processes
- Handle escalated discipline cases, including parent communication where required
- Ensure the school is a safe, inclusive, and child-friendly environment in line with child rights regulations
- Monitor student attendance, punctuality, and general welfare in coordination with class teachers.
5. Day-to-Day Academic Operations
- Oversee the smooth running of the academic day: including Zero Period, class routines, and bell schedules
- Manage proxy and substitute class arrangements to ensure no learning time is lost
- Coordinate with Section In-Charges on daily operational matters
- Monitor staff attendance and punctuality and report to leadership
6. ECAs, Competitions & School Functions
- Own the planning, coordination, and execution of all extracurricular and co-curricular activities
- Manage inter-school competitions, internal events, and academic clubs
- Plan and oversee school functions: annual day, sports day, speech competitions, cultural programs, and similar events
- Coordinate with HR & Growth Manager for marketing coverage and social media visibility of events
7. Student Counselling & Welfare
- Provide oversight of student counselling - ensuring cases are identified, tracked, and followed through
8. Policy Implementation & Reporting
- Ensure all school policies are understood and implemented by teaching and non-teaching staff
- Report academic performance, staff development progress, and operational updates to the Principal and Board
- Maintain academic records, observation logs, and staff performance documentation
