Job Location: Central Field Office, Lalitpur

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Urban Livelihood Coordinator will manage Urban Livelihood and Waste Management project portfolio of WVIN’s Field Office in compliance with WVIN’s sectoral and quality standards, Government’s policies and industry norms. He/She will be responsible for monitoring the performance of partner NGOs and ensuring appropriate technical and functional support, managing relationships with sectoral key stakeholders including Local Governments. The role will also be responsible for: 
  • Contribute to the design of new Agriculture & Economic Development projects. 
  • He /She will coordinate with partner NGOs and WVIN’s MEALS Team to ensure appropriate analysis and programme results, including sharing of results and continuous improvement of programme design and implementation
  • Coordination with Agriculture & Economic Development Manager and Field Manager, build external relationships and engagement with government line agencies, other INGOs/NGOs, research institutions and private sector at local, district and provincial levels in alignment with WVIN’s national strategy/plan for engagement in the Resilience sector
  • Coordinate organizational processes with which Urban Livelihood and Waste Management project have to be engaged including but not limited to annual planning and budgeting process and audit

Minimum Qualifications and Experience required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Youth/Agriculture & Economic Development/ waste management) with 3 years’ experience (Master’s degree in the related field preferred)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in managing implementation of urban-based development programs 
  • Technical knowledge on Economic Development and urban development programming, including a strong emphasis on Local Value Chain Development and Urban community planning methods and models
  • Technical knowledge of and skills/experience in programming, including 
  • Knowledge on trends and dynamics at the city level, and their connection to issues and needs at the local/community level, poverty dynamics, issues and contributing factors;
  • Appreciation of rural/urban linkages especially aspects of urban poverty, slum programs and policies, service delivery for the poor, rural to urban migration, and urban governance; 
  • Be aware of city management and development plans or processes; familiarity with urban policies, strategies, Experience of working in remote district of Nepal
  • Knowledge on waste management issues in Nepal (particularly in Urban context)
  • Understanding of Agriculture & Economic Development programming that takes an empowerment approach including community-led activities and advocacy 
  • Understanding programme logic, programme design, and programme cycle including project planning, design, monitoring, evaluation 
  • Knowledge of World Vision’s Technical Programme in Agriculture & Economic Development and organizational policies and standards
  • Experience in developing project technical designs including log frames, ITTs, detailed implementation plans
  • Experience in preparing and leading training workshops
  • Experience working in a rural or remote district of Nepal
  • Experience in developing grant technical project proposals
  • Will be required to travel at least 60% of the time to operational districts
  • Willingness to work outside office hours especially when traveling and working with partner NGOs and donor/monitoring visits
  • Must have excellent computer literacy & skill of MS office applications (Word/Excel/PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated Mentoring, Orientation & Training Skill
  • Good interpersonal, problem solving & time management skills
  • Willingness to work under pressure with tight deadlines and to travel
  • Excellent oral and written English & Nepali
  • Ready to take initiatives and willing to work under pressure and exhibit a high level of flexibility
  • Hold a high level of integrity and honesty, self-motivated, confident, and able to work independently
  • Strategic, creative, collaborative and innovative thinking with decision making and problem solving skills
  • Good understanding of humanitarian Sector
