Forum for Protection of Public Interest (Pro Public) is seeking a motivated and qualified trainee for its Civil Peace Service Program (CPSP). The program is working on various aspects of peace building and conflict transformation in Nepal. 

We offer opportunities to learn and deepen the understanding of research methodology, especially data analysis with the program SPSS, which is widely used in social sciences, and qualitative data analysis; Nonviolent Communication (NVC); support training design; insights into the work of a well- established NGO in peace building and conflict transformation field. The depth of trainee's involvement will also depend on the interest, ability, and duration of the traineeship.

Duration: Nine months (April to December 2020)

Location: Kathmandu

Qualification: 

• Master's in Conflict, Peace and Development Studies running or completed or Masters in Social Science or relevant field. No prior experience is required however it will be an added value.

Key competencies required:

• Working knowledge of word programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Working knowledge of SPSS
• Knowledge of data analysis, data input and data tabulation or interest in learning these
• Understanding of or interest in documenting project learning such as case studies, success stories  and lessons learnt
• English to Nepali and vice versa translation and transcription ability
• Good in both English and Nepali with Nepali typing skills or willingness to learn Nepali typing in the beginning of the traineeship
• Keen learning attitude, reliability, and sense of responsibility
• Good team player and communication skills
• Trainee bringing their own laptop is preferable
