CRS is an international NGO based in the United States that works in over 100 countries to promote human development by responding to major emergencies, fighting diseases, poverty, and nurturing peaceful and just societies. CRS Nepal has been implementing emergency response and recovery (Including COVID-19) program in Nepal, and further plans to extend sustainable livelihood development program in various districts of Nepal. Additionally, CRS is implementing USAID supported livelihood technical assistance program Farmer to Farmer (F2F) in Bagmati Province, Province 5, Karnali Province and Sudurpaschim Province. The Housing Recovery and Reconstruction Platform (HRRP) led by CRS Nepal since March 2017 has been providing coordination support services across 32 earthquake affected districts. CRS Nepal is currently expanding its support to address the Covid-19 economic recovery needs for the vulnerable households in Palpa and Gorkha districts. Further, CRS Nepal plans to expand community resilient program through the implementation of Shelter, WASH and Sustainable Agriculture Livelihoods in the western earthquake affected districts of Nepal.

Scope of Work for Aquaculture Consultancy - Nepal

CRS Nepal is recruiting a technical expert in the aquaculture sector from March 2023 to April 2023 to prepare for an anticipated USDA opportunity. 

Deliverables:

  • Prepare stakeholder and influence mapping for key aquaculture & fishery actors working across Nepal and South Asia, including government, NGO/INGOs, associations, private sector, sector experts and relevant academic/research actors. 
  • In coordination with CRS staff meet with key actors to identify geographic and technical opportunities to invest and scale aquaculture in Nepal.
  • Provide aquaculture trend analysis globally, regionally and in Nepal to identify best practices, lessons learned and innovations with a focus on USDA relevant programming.  

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ degree in aquaculture, fisheries, marine biology, zoology or agriculture is required. Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Professional expertise working in the aquaculture or fisheries sector in Asia is required; relevant experience in Nepal and South Asia is preferred.
  • Availability to start consultancy from March 20 is required.
  • Knowledge and experience working on USDA programming is preferred.
  • Residency In Nepal and Nepali language skills is preferred. 
  • Candidates with Gender Diversity Social Inclusion (GESI) is preferred.
