Job Description

The role of the Technical Analyst involves providing comprehensive support in achieving USAID’s Urja Nepal’s project objectives. Responsibilities include coordinating technical assistance activities, collaborating with program advisors and specialists, assisting in power sector planning and policy assessments, preparing guidelines and recommendations for improved planning tools and frameworks, and facilitating knowledge-sharing workshops. Regular engagement with key counterparts, progress reporting, and contributing to monitoring and evaluation deliverables are also integral to the role, ensuring effective implementation and alignment with program objectives.

VRock, as a subcontractor under USAID’s Urja Nepal project, focuses on market development, improved utility performance, enhanced sector policies, deployment of advanced energy systems, increased private sector participation, and strengthened cross-border electricity trade, positioning Nepal for electricity-driven growth.

Scope of Work:

  • Support the program in realizing an integrated power sector planning approach, building capacity on planning tools and advanced power sector technologies and concepts, and piloting innovative concepts in the clean energy sector.
  • Continuous and effective liaison with energy sector stakeholders in government, private sector, civil society, and academia to provide necessary support and gather crucial insights for achieving the program objectives.
  • Support in planning, designing, and hosting of capacity development and other workshop events related to integrated planning, electric mobility, energy efficiency, and advanced technologies.
  • Support in managing various Grant programs and in coordination with grantees.
  • Collection, cleaning, compilation, and analysis of data related to demand assessment, generation expansion planning, transmission and distribution planning, and energy transition planning under the integrated planning approach.
  • Support in developing models and preparation of recommendations, guidelines, and manuals to be made for demand assessment, generation expansion planning, transmission and distribution planning, and energy transition planning.
  • Assist in the preparation of summary reports, status reports of various program activities, and technical reports.
  • Contribute to regular M&E reporting and success stories and all cross-cutting deliverables and other communications, as needed.
