Raleigh International is a youth-driven organization supporting a global movement of young people to take action.

We exist to ignite youth-led action that creates solutions to the world’s most urgent problems. But while young people demand change now, they do not always know how to take action. We support young people by connecting them with the skills, networks, platforms and experiences to lead on the change they demand.

We work globally to promote the role of young people in decision making and civil society, creating meaningful youth employment and enterprise, protecting vulnerable environments, combating climate change, and ensuring the right to safe water and sanitation.

With over 35 years of experience working with over 55,000 young people from more than 100 countries, we’re an ever-evolving organization, constantly adapting to new ideas and challenges.

Raleigh International Nepal (RIN) is a subsidiary of RIUK and has been working in Nepal since 2015. Our Country office is in Khumaltar, Lalitpur Nepal. We promote the role of young people in decision making and civil society, creating meaningful youth employment and enterprise, protecting vulnerable environments, and combating climate change, and ensuring Sustainable livelihood and the right to safe water and sanitation.

Job Description

We are looking for people who are committed to learning, are flexible and adaptable, enjoy working with others, are good problem solvers, are self-assured and have an openness to experiencing new cultures. You will work in partnership with UK Team Leader to ensure that our WASH and Livelihoods programmes are delivered according to our Project Agreement with the Nepal government. This post requires a high level of commitment over 12 weeks and you will be expected to manage a team of 12 volunteers in a rural community.

About  Programmes

International Citizen Service (ICS): 

The ICS programme is fully funded by the UK government and you receive a certificate from the UK government for completing the programme. Young people from the UK will travel to Nepal and work with you as part of a team of 12 volunteers – 6 Nepali and 6 UK plus 2 Team Leaders (1 Nepali/1 UK). You will be living and working with local communities in Makwanpur helping to deliver either our WASH programme or supporting our livelihood programme. You will be responsible for delivering awareness raising sessions, community infrastructure, developing resources for the community, undertaking needs assessments and action research, helping our partners deliver training to the communities and promoting active global citizenship. 
 

Youth Leadership 
Raleigh International believes that young people are crucial stakeholders in both the decision-making process and outcomes of sustainable development, and that their journey with Raleigh International Nepal contributes to their development by giving them tools and valuable insight to find their voice and become active global citizens. 

Community Development 

We are working in several VDCs in the Makwanpur district and you will be involved in our WASH or Livelihood programmes. You will be responsible for delivering awareness raising sessions, community infrastructure, developing resources for the community, undertaking needs assessments and action research, helping our partners deliver training to the communities and promoting active global citizenship.
You will spend the rest of the programme in your respective community, living in a host home and working with your team. We will provide you with the support necessary for you to be able to have a demonstrable impact in your community. 

We will provide you with 14 days of comprehensive training on all aspects of our programme, health and safety, operational management and youth leadership skills.
