Global Action Nepal is dynamic social organization which has been working exclusively in Nepal for more than two decades to help improving the quality of life of marginalized people in Nepal engaging stakeholders meaningfully for quality education, equity, human rights and lifelong learning. GAN is implementing Civil Society Participation in Education (COPE) Project, funded by the European Commission, implement through a consortium led by National Campaign for Education Nepal in partnership with GAN, Nepal Disabled Women Association. The main objective of this project is to unite various stakeholders in addressing issues related to accountability and governance within the education sector. The project is to be implemented in Dhanusha, Siraha and Rautahat districts of Madesh province and Dailekh, Kalikot, Surkhet districts of Karnali province.

Thus, GAN is seeking for pro-active, qualified, self-motivated, dedicated and outcome oriented Project Officer under COPE project.

Job Location: Surkhet District

Salary and Benefits: As per organization policy.

Duration: One year (Extendable)

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Programme development and implementation: Work closely with International Volunteer Teacher Trainer to support the successful development and delivery of residential teacher training courses, including model school/ good performing schools visit, participant logistics and training resources and Low-cost-no cost materials. Overall responsibility for the implementation of the EDGE clubs.

Capacity Building: Lead in design and deliver workshop, trainings, seminars, meetings, coaching and short sessions to school teachers, Learning support class (LSC) facilitators, peer educators and stakeholders focusing on gender sensitivity teaching, child centred teaching methodologies, core subjects and English and Digital Education. 

Lead in finance management: Maintain record of programme expenses in a standard format for settlement of advance and reimbursement, Plan budget for impending activities and communicate with supervisor for accuracy and timely release 

Monitoring and Evaluation: Closely and regular monitor and provide accurate constructive feedback to each teachers, LSC facilitators and PGLs, Maintain documentation of activities performed including teachers, LSC facilitators and PGLs' progress. 

Other support: Create a self-support system within the project areas and project team, fulfil other appropriate level responsibilities as demand of the project.

Qualification and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or any other related discipline with at least 2-year relevant experience. 

Skills and knowledge:

  • Good Facilitation Skills, Development, Design and delivery of training
  • knowledge of child centred pedagogies
  • Able to communicate effectively in both English and Nepali
  • Excellent collaboration skills
  • Demonstration of excellent team working and relationship building skills
  • Able to travel frequently and spend time away from base and home
  • Good coordination, organisational and networking skills
  • Proficiency to use MS Office
