Job Description

Roles and responsibilities of this job

We are seeking a qualified, experienced, and dedicated Sustainable Development Teacher to join our Vocational Training Centre in Soludhundkunda Municipality–7, Garma, Solukhumbu. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background in a relevant field, practical experience in environmental projects, and a genuine commitment to sustainable development and community empowerment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons, developing students understanding of sustainable development principles, and connecting theoretical knowledge with practical applications, particularly in mountain communities.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver lessons on sustainable development, environmental conservation, climate change, and related topics.
Develop teaching materials, lesson plans, and practical learning activities.
Engage students in environmental projects and community-based sustainability initiatives.
Promote awareness of sustainable resource management, biodiversity conservation, and climate resilience.
Assess students’ learning progress and provide constructive feedback.
Encourage students to develop practical skills and innovative solutions to local environmental challenges.
Collaborate with colleagues, local communities, and relevant organizations to support educational and environmental initiatives.

Required Education Level:Under Graduate (Bachelor)

Required Experience:More than 2 years

Other Specification

A bachelor’s degree in Sustainable Development, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, or a related discipline, or an equivalent qualification.
Previous experience working on environmental projects is required. Applicants must provide details and supporting evidence or references.
Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
Strong communication, presentation, and classroom management skills.
Willingness to relocate to Solukhumbu and work in a mountain environment.
A strong commitment to education, environmental sustainability, and community development.
Previous teaching or training experience.
Experience working with NGOs, development organizations, or community-based projects.
Practical experience in sustainable development initiatives in mountain regions.
Ability to connect classroom learning with real-world environmental challenges.

Salary and Benefits

Salary: NPR 40,000, with an attractive package based on merit and experience.
Facilities: Accommodation and food will be provided
Citizen Investment Trust (CIT): 10% contribution, subject to the institution’s applicable policy and terms.

Note:

Working hours: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Age: Minimum 27 years

Our Goal is to build a Vocational Training Center in the Solu-Khumbu Region, providing local teenagers (age 15+) with the practical technical skills needed to find a job locally, enabling them to stay in the Region and support their families. Several courses will be proposed, on specific fields, such as :

Construction & Building Trades : Electricity/ Plumbing/Carpentry
Tourism Trades : Hospitality/Cooking/Trekking Agency
Bi-qualification programs
Later on, additional fields ( Agro-food processing, …) to be promoted.
