SMEC has operated in Nepal since 1968. SMEC’s first project in Nepal was the 300 MW Karnali Hydropower Project. SMEC provided project planning services and undertook feasibility studies on the project.

Since then, SMEC has worked on a range of projects throughout Nepal including: a water resources and energy training program on behalf of the Government of Nepal; Rasuwagadhi Hydroelectric Project; Kathmandu Sustainable Urban Transport Project; and the Sanjen (Upper) and Sanjen Hydroelectric Project located approximately 160 km north of Kathmandu.

More recently, SMEC has been awarded a contract by the Government of Nepal’s Department of Electricity Development to provide detailed engineering designs and Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA) on the 20 MW Budhi Ganga Hydropower Project.

Job Description

Academic Qualifications:

MSc in Structural Engineering/Earthquake Engineering or MSC Civil with Major in Structural Engineering

Experiences:

10 years of experience as Structural Engineer
Minimum 7 years of experience in Stability & Stress Analysis and design of Hydraulic Structures including, weir, barrage, dams, intake, canal, desander, Anchor block, Surge tank, powerhouse, river training works etc.
Analysis and Design of retaining wall. Shall be good at FE software preferably SAP2000, STAAD.PRO or equivalent

Preferred Experience:

Detail Structural Analysis and design of hydraulic structures of at least two projects of 50MW Capacity or above
