Job Description

We are seeking a highly driven and organized individual to lead operations for the project: Draper Startup House Toronto, while working remotely from Kathmandu. This project-based role requires a strong blend of hospitality management, financial planning, and digital marketing skills. The Strategic Operations Lead will be responsible for overseeing hostel operations, booking strategies, guest experience, and key growth initiatives, including expansion planning and performance monitoring.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Oversight

  • Monitor and coordinate daily hostel operations with the on-site team in Toronto
  • Ensure delivery of exceptional guest experiences aligned with Draper Startup House standards
  • Implement SOPs, workflows, and tools to streamline operations remotely

Booking Strategy & Revenue Management

  • Develop and execute booking strategies based on occupancy forecasts
  • Manage listings across multiple booking platforms (Airbnb, Booking.com, Hostelworld, etc.)
  • Use digital marketing and promotional campaigns to optimize occupancy and revenue

Financial Planning & Control

  • Prepare and track operating budgets, P&L reports, and cash flow forecasts
  • Monitor cost efficiency and profitability metrics
  • Liaise with accountants/bookkeepers in Canada and Nepal for timely reporting

Strategic Growth & Expansion

  • Contribute to market research and business case preparation for future DSH locations in North America
  • Support execution of strategic initiatives and partnership development
  • Assist in investor updates and reporting

Team & Vendor Coordination

  • Coordinate with the on-site General Manager and support hiring if needed
  • Manage external vendors, booking platforms, and tech tools used in operations
  • Maintain communication between Toronto operations and Founders

Reporting & Compliance

  • Ensure timely preparation of operational, financial, and strategic reports
  • Support compliance and licensing requirements across jurisdictions
  • Manage KPIs related to occupancy, revenue, guest satisfaction, etc.

Note: Candidates with prior experience as a Hotel Operations Manager, Hotel Manager, or in similar roles within hotels abroad will be strongly preferred. The right candidate must be able to design effective booking strategies aligned with occupancy levels, manage booking platforms, and leverage digital marketing to drive reservations and brand visibility.
