Since its establishment in 1987, AHF has played a pivotal role in expanding healthcare access and influencing policies to improve the lives of people living with HIV/AIDS worldwide. AHF Nepal, as part of this global initiative, is dedicated to combating HIV/AIDS and strengthening public health systems. It is currently implementing a five-year project (2022–2027) titled Sustaining the Gain, enhancing HIV prevention, testing, treatment, and care services at ART clinics of Nepal. Strategic Information (SI) Specialist

Key Responsibilities: 

The Strategic Information (SI) Specialist will play a key role in strengthening Nepal’s HIV Strategic Information system by providing technical support to NCASC. This position will focus on the effective management of the DHIS2-based HIV Care and ART Tracking System, biometric systems, and ensuring high-quality data collection, management, analysis, and reporting across the national HIV program. The SI Specialist will actively contribute to evidence-based decision-making, program enhancement, and fulfillment of national reporting requirements.

The SI Specialist will support the AHF Nepal team in developing its M&E plan/framework and facilitate the implementation of retention initiatives for AHF-supported treatment and care facilities in Nepal.

Required qualifications and competencies:

  • Master’s degree in public health, Epidemiology, Health Services and Public Health Research, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in HIV/AIDS program SI, M&E, or health information systems, including 2-3 years in DHIS2 customization, implementation, and management, with proven expertise in DHIS2, biometric systems, and other health data platforms.
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis and visualization, including the integration of maps, and GPS coordinates, with expertise in analytical tools such as Excel, SPSS, Stata, or R; ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for program planning and decision-making.
  • Familiarity with quantitative as well as qualitative health research and M&E methods.
  • Excellent command of key data management and epidemiological analysis programs: SPSS, R, STATA, AEM, and SPECTRUM.
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluation from the GESI lens will be highly desirable.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Nepali.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and an understanding of cultural, social, and economic factors influencing HIV/AIDS care is important. Sensitivity to issues related to stigma, discrimination, and health disparities is valuable.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations, ethical guidelines, and confidentiality requirements related to HIV/AIDS care, patient privacy, and data management is necessary.
  • Self-guided, strong organizational and planning skills.
