Staff Nurse

Role purpose:

• Offering continuity of care and ensuring patient physical, social, culture and spiritual needs are met

Duties and main tasks of nursing care:

• Handover and takeover of each and every thing such as patient, medicines used for patients emergency medicines and equipment
• Deliver personal care, including dressing, undressing, assisting in and out of bed, toileting, bathing, commode emptying etc
• Application of creams and delivery of some clinical duties
• Spot record and refer changes in patient’s health and well being
• Conduct risk assessments
• Refer all clinical decisions to health works and chairman and administration
• Assist residents during meal times
• Domestic duties such as bed making, laundry organizing
• General care and maintenance of equipment and wheel chairs reporting issues through correct channels
• Escorts patient for appointment activities
• Ensure well stocked stores, ordering and receiving as appropriate passing medicine orders

Clinical Tasks:

• Check blood glucose level
• Change simple dressing
• Administration of ear and eye drops
• Feeding
• Medications administration
• Observation
• Catheter care
• Colostomy care.(if needed)
• Positioning
• Inform doctors if necessary and each and every day
• Ensure patients safety and follow safety precautions
• Maintain term communication records
• Maintain paper and electronic record as appropriate
