Project: Support to Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (S2GESI) as part of the Nepali - German Health Program
Position: Trainee (S2GESI)
Working period: 6 Months (can be extended to 9 months)
Working location: GIZ office Khumaltar, Kathmandu
Reports to: Programme Manager & GESI coordinator
Responsibilities:
The trainee will be responsible for working closely with the Programme Manager and the Health Project Team in Kathmandu to perform the following tasks:
Program Implementation and Coordination
- Assist in planning, scheduling, and documenting programme activities, meetings, workshops, and field missions;
- Support coordination and communication with implementing CSO partners, consultants, and other stakeholders;
- Prepare concept notes, meeting agendas, write minutes and follow-up on action points of meetings.
Monitoring, Reporting, and Documentation
- Assist in preparing presentations and other project-related documents;
- Assist in maintaining programme databases, indicators, and activity trackers;
- Support documentation of best practices, lessons learned, and success stories.
Technical Support
- Conduct literature research, desk reviews, background research, and data compilation on health-related topics;
- Support analysis of programme data related to health systems strengthening and project indicators;
- Assist in drafting concept notes for contracts and preparing needed documents such as Terms of References (ToR), etc.; Administrative and Organizational Support
- Assist in preparing, implementing and following-up events, workshops, conferences;
- Coordinate with the service unit of GIZ for event organization and logistical arrangement;
- Ensure proper filing and archiving of programme documents in line with GIZ procedures in coordination with component leads;
Communication and Knowledge Management
- Support internal and external communication, including drafting emails, summaries, social media posts, press articles and presentations;
- Assist in knowledge management, documentation, and reporting;
- Support in coordination with communication teams for visibility and knowledge products.
Required Qualification and Experience
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in public health, Medicine, Health Sciences, Development Studies, Environmental Health, Social Sciences, Gender Studies or a related field.
- Master’s degree (ongoing or completed) is an asset.
Experience:
- Familiarity with Nepal’s health system
- Prior internship, research, or volunteer experience in health or development projects is an asset;
- Experience with development partners and/or international cooperation is desirable
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong analytical, writing, and documentation skills;
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
- Good communication skills in English and Nepali (both written and spoken);
- Ability to work in team and as part of a multidisciplinary team;
- Willingness to learn GIZ procedures and programme management processes;
- Openness to travel for field missions outside of Kathmandu, including to partner municipalities in Sudurpachsim and Lumbini Provinces.

Supervision
The trainee will work under the direct supervision of the Programme Manager. Learning progress and performance will be reviewed periodically based on agreed work plans and deliverables.
