Job Title: Sr. Communication and Knowledge Management (KM) Officer
Job Summary
The Sr. Communication and KM officer will develop and implement the communication and KM strategy of MPHD Nepal. The objective of this position is to promote and enhance the external image of project with donors, government, and the public. S/He will be responsible for developing the communication work plan for project on a yearly basis with clear deliverables and ensure that all activities are implemented in a timely manner. S/he will also be responsible for day-to-day communication activities including but not limited to social media activities, helping with reports, drafting success stories, newsletters and knowledge management products. S/he will work closely with field teams, other departments, and consortium partners to support the communication, product marketing and branding needs. S/he will be well versed with the USAID Marking and Branding policy and ensure that these are followed diligently for all communication materials produced by project.

Key Responsibilities Activities
Create, implement, and Monitor the Knowledge Management Strategy
- Develop and implement the Knowledge Management plan of the MPHD Project and Nepal CRS Company.
- Develop and manage innovative and cost-effective on-line and off-line KM tools and systems to consolidate, compile and disseminate information and knowledge generated from various sources;
- Ensure effective process of collecting and disseminating lessons learnt from project operations, simulation exercises, workshops, seminars or trainings organized or attended by the MPHD team as well as other relevant sources;
- Conduct research, document and generate knowledge materials to be published in both web-based and printed forms.
- Analise collected lessons learnt and provide recommendations for best practices in improving the overall operation of the MPHD and CRS.
- Support the development and dissemination of knowledge and experience through enhanced communication, strengthened knowledge products and publications.
- Propose and promote creative solutions for knowledge management in the organization
- Support HO in integrating KM in all aspects of their operations
- Improve, create, and maintain knowledge management systems that enable the organization, access to, and sharing of templates, processes/procedures, resources, and best practices in an easily accessible manner for project staff
- Conduct monitoring and evaluation of the overall implementation of Knowledge Management plan and prepare periodic reports that consist of reviews, analyses, evaluations and recommendations to improve the on the overall implementation of Knowledge Management plan;
- Contribute to establishing best practices in knowledge management for the organization.
Capacity Development of Project team in Knowledge Management
- Develop the capacity of the project team to accurately capture data, prepare reports and field activities for the knowledge management.
Branding and Marking
- Design, co-design and development of IEC/BCC materials in coordination with other project staff and consortium partners
- Adhere branding requirements for donors and organization and make sure all branding guidelines are strictly followed
- Help other departments and field offices with branding and marking requirements
Create, Implement, and Monitor the Communication Strategy
- Develop and implement effective communications activities for external customers and stakeholders of the MPHD Project.
- Write and optimise content for the website, digital newsletters, print publications and social networking sites.
- Ensure consistency in terms of voice, branding, messaging, and frequency of posting via digital channels.
- Liaise closely with the graphic designer to prepare all the communication materials needed for the different products including case studies, success stories, website content, e-newsletters etc.
- Generate new content for the website and Facebook page and implement strategies to attract new visitors to the website. Maintain records of media coverage and collate analytics and metrics
- Use other social media appropriately to enhance visibility as an organization with consent from the concerned authority.
- Effectively coordinate with other departments to assist them in preparing contents, presentation, and summary.
- Write, edit, and distribute content, including publications, press releases, website content, annual reports, speeches, and other material that communicates the project’s and organization's activities, products and/or service.
- Take lead role to create an overall corporate / programmatic communication and knowledge management strategy.
- Work with all concerned departments, and staff to own, implement and monitor the communication strategy and communication plan. Ensure that all project employees disseminate consistent messages about project externally.
- Manage the Projects’s and/or organization’s social media communications.
Documentation and reporting
- Collaborate with field team and other units for the donor reporting requirements and other communication materials. Provide guidance to all staff contributing to the reports on formatting and style.
- Ensure that all reports and deliverables are properly formatted, edited, and meets the required quality standards prior to submission
- Provide content inputs as appropriate and take a lead in writing, revising /final editing and polishing the technical content for reports
- Regular collection and review of progress report submitted by Project team
- Collect and compile reports including regular periodic report, tools and event completion report from Project team and develop appropriate filing system.
- Produce hard copy documents, progress report, data, case studies and other documents in consultation with Program Coordinator and Executive Officer/ Program Director
- Prepare case studies and success stories focusing the highlights of achievements.
Understand the Donors / Client
- Establish a strong rapport with consortium partners, donors and understand their needs from a communication perspective
- Ensure that communication strategy and communication plan are in line with the donor’s expectation & policies and observe all required protocols for communication
- Programs & Events
- Take the lead in ensuring that any external programs and events are professionally organized and communicate a positive image in line with the communication strategies

Required skills/competencies/others
- Excellent in both verbal and written communication in English and Nepali Languages
- Excellent Interpersonal & Presentation skills Able to design communication material by using Graphic Design Software will be an added advantage.
- Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas: digital and print media, social media and collaboration platforms, public relations, marketing, graphic design, and/or stakeholder engagement. Event planning experience is preferrable
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, content management systems, and social media platforms.
- Demonstrated knowledge of USAID branding and marking and other communications-related policies and procedures preferred
- Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks, producing quality products and services within tight time constraints
Qualification and Experience
Minimum Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in mass communication, journalism or relevant field
Preferred / Additional Qualification: Master’s Degree in mass communication, journalism or relevant field Experience in designing publication materials and use of infographics
Minimum Experience : At least 3 years’ experience in social communication / media field / knowledge management
Preferred / Additional Experience:
- Experience of working with donor funded organization in communication field.
- Prior experience in or knowledge of USAID branding and marking policies.
