Purpose

  • To provide necessary legal support to the internal stakeholders for Business as usual (BAU) in effective and efficient manner.  
  • To ensure compliance with the company's business activities as per prevailing laws.
  • To draft/review the agreements and other legal deeds & documents for the business support unit. 
  • To represent at Court, government, and other non-government authorities on behalf of the company.
  • To do proactive analysis on any legal risk and maintain legal records accurately and concurrently.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Draft, review contracts / agreements and ensure compliance with all the statutory and legal requirements.
  • Review and provide legal advice on the contract and ensure their legal compliance.
  • Support the legal team to highlight all relevant legal provisions, process, and procedure from a contractual perspective.
  • Prepare case briefs, summaries, position papers, applications, defense reply and/or litigation related documents and deeds.
  • File & register cases, prepare all the supporting documents related to the case and present them before the Court.
  • Provide essential legal support for enforcing the company’s values and code of conduct, setting a positive example within the organization.
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders and departments, demonstrating dedication, and teamwork resilience for each assigned task and identify appropriate legal solution. 
  • Research and provide/make legal opinion and or suggestion to the respective person/department. 
  • Coordinate with external lawyers on litigation and any other activities and provide support to ensure effective execution and result. 
  • Active participation in every company’s project and give quality service alignment with legal perspective. 
  • Maintain fair record keeping and make proper documentation of each task and assignment.

Qualification and experience

  • Master’s degree in law (LL.M) with minimum 2 years of relevant experience OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in law / bachelor’s degree along with LLB having 4 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in the corporate & commercial legal field with special focus on drafting and negotiation of contracts, legal documents in contract management.
  • Advocate license will be an added advantage

Profile

  • Should have good knowledge of legislative and other normative acts of Nepal as well as current legislative practices.
  • Should have good knowledge and understanding of different agreements, contracts, and legislation.
  • Should have good knowledge of judiciary acts and bodies.
  • Reviews and recommends innovative solutions or techniques to improve work output.
  • Tries to review linkages beyond own work area and seeks to learn more about other parts of the unit, or function.
  • Proactively seeks out customers' input to obtain feedback on performance.
  • Effectively communicates with others to obtain needed information or support.
  • Adapts rules or recommends alteration in normal procedures to get a job done well.
  • Understands personal strengths & weaknesses and works on constructive feedback to improve one's work performance.
  • Reviews situations or problems related to the work and presents all perspectives clearly for analysis.
  • Should have the ability to stay focused, prioritize, multitask, and troubleshoot.
  • Should have strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills.
  • Should be initiative-taking and self-directed.
  • Able to react quickly and effectively when dealing with challenging situations.
  • Ability to deal with multiple stakeholders.
  • Computer-savvy and well-versed in Microsoft Office package.
  • Should be proficient in Nepali and English typing.

Duty Station

Kathmandu but can be placed anywhere in Nepal as per business needs and future requirements.
