National Indigenous Women Forum (NIWF) was founded in 1998 aiming to make development programs for women and indigenous peoples successfully; to organize and empower indigenous women from local to national levels on common issues of women; and work for equity and equality by having common objectives on women’s common issues. There are not only common problems and issues of indigenous women and other women and also of indigenous women and indigenous men but also distinct problems and issues that are unique to indigenous women. Therefore, the National Indigenous Women Forum (NIWF) was established to support and raise awareness of indigenous women, to intensify advocacy for securing rights of indigenous women and indigenous children, and to run programs with focus on advocacy, training, discussion, interaction, study and research. NIWF supports indigenous women to be an equal partner in the national development.

  • Must be an Indigenous woman or man with a deep understanding of Indigenous communities and issues in Humla with knowledge of local language.

  • At least 1-2 years of experience in community mobilization or development work.
  • Knowledge of local context and fluency in Nepali and local dialects.
  • Basic understanding of participatory tools and community engagement approaches.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to remote areas within the district

Compensation: Salary and benefits will be based on NIWF’s policies and the applicant’s experience.

Note: 

  • The applicant must be an Indigenous woman, committed to advancing Indigenous women’s rights and leadership in Nepal.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who are currently residing in or around Simkot, Humla, or are willing to be based there during the project period.


Job Description

Reports to: Team Leader
Duration: 28 months, with possible extension

The Social Mobilizer will work at the community level to support planning, implementation, and monitoring of project activities. They will serve as a liaison between the project team and local communities to ensure active participation, ownership, and sustainability of the interventions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mobilize and organize community members for participation in project activities.
  • Conduct community awareness, orientation, and sensitization programs.
  • Facilitate group formation, capacity building, and regular meetings.
  • Collect data, success stories, and feedback from the field for reporting and learning.
  • Coordinate with local stakeholders (ward offices, schools, women groups, health posts, etc.).
  • Maintain proper documentation of field activities and submit regular reports.
  • Promote inclusion of women, marginalized groups, and persons with disabilities.
  • Assist in resolving community-level conflicts or challenges related to project implementation.
