About the project: Plan International is implementing the MCA (Missing Child Alert) - II project in Nepal, Bangladesh and India. The goal of this project is elimination of labour, sex and CSEC (Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children) related trafficking activities in the three neighboring countries and to address the cross border issue through a multi-layered, comprehensive, community based model of support. The MCA-II project’s purpose is to preventing cross border child trafficking and missing children, reducing the likelihood of, and empowering young children and their communities, in the fight against trafficking in persons (TIP) in South Asia region. This project will directly contribute to the achievement of the objectives under ‘protection of vulnerable children’ program.

Purpose: 

The position holder will provide be responsible for planning, designing and operationalising the project by ensuring better thematic understanding in the field of child protection, anti-trafficking and Social Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC). S/he will be provided strategic guideline and oversight of the project implementation by Deputy Country Director-Programs and in coordination with respective Program Strategy & Policy and Communication department to ensure implementation of activities as per plan. S/he will closely work with the communications team in order to develop consistent messaging at public and its proper dissemination ensuring the brand elements of Plan International Nepal.    

Terms and Location: Fixed term employment till 30 June 2022 based in Country Office, Lalitpur.

Required Qualifications & Experiences:

  •  Master in Social Science, Social work, Mass Communication for development
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in development sector is preferred with minimum 3 years’ experience in child protection, child trafficking programs with special focus on SBCC (Social Behaviour Change Communication) field 
  • Excellent training skill, willingness to work with tight deadline and ability to work in complex and diverse working environment
  • Good interpersonal communication and problem solving skills with fluency in English The knowledge of local language of the state will be added value

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and finalise a comprehensive Social Behaviour Change Communication strategy & manual and take lead for rolling out
  • Initiate and facilitate the awareness generation on SBCC sessions linking it with global campaign of Plan International and align its messages appropriately
  • Develop awareness materials (audio Visual) and print, wall paintings, bill boards as per the requirement of the project 
  • Produce short messages around the project to support project goal, and its activities , reporting and fundraising and monitor the SBCC activities run by Partners   
  • Promote SBCC Campaign through Media, Awareness generation on alert system through selected trained project team in the field
  • Provide technical assistance to the implementing partners on Child Protection and child trafficking project through effective implementation of the SBCC activities
  • Ensure capacity building of the stakeholders, implementing partners based on the Plan International available training modules
  • Coordinate and liaise with program partners, government line agencies and other counterparts to build the synergy including social and behavior change communications
