Plantation Initiative Nepal is a non-profit NGO registered with the District Administration Office, Lalitpur and recognized by the Social Welfare Council which was established in the year 2075 B.S. In the short period of its establishment, it has made significant contribution in the field of forest rehabilitation and upliftment of local livelihood. This program is working with special priority on women, poor and backward classes. This organization has laid the foundation for sustainable forest management and conservation of endangered wildlife habitats through tree planting. We have been working in coordination with the local community, local bodies, and concerned governments, including the Sherpas of the Himalayas, the Chepangs of the Central Hills, and the Tharu communities of the Terai. At present, we are implementing programs in 15 districts of Nepal from East Jhapa to West Kalikot.

MISSION:

To offer the dignity of fair employment to people living in impoverished communities, who become transformational agents of global forest restoration.

VISION:

Creating livelihoods for millions of people living in extreme poverty by empowering them to restore and protect forests on a massive scale.

Job Description

Responsibilities assigned are not limited to given ones but should show the eagerness to handle given responsibilities as per organization requirement. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Have an understanding of the mission and vision of the organization.
  • Regular travel will be required. 
  • Responsible to explore new sites where requirement and opportunity for plantation exists. 
  • Initiate network building in different community forests of Nepal for initiating the program.
  • Explore planting opportunity in already existing project sites. 
  • Organize field visits to these new sites and gather necessary information. 
  • Responsible to create site profiles of site visited. 
  • Once the site is verified, organize interaction with the community to initiate program.
  • Responsible for collecting information from sites. This includes, but is not limited to, collect information of project sites, nursery, plantation area and plantation activities and after plantation situation. 
  • Participate actively in the nursery activities by providing technical support and checking quality.
  • Should report to Program Officer.
  • One should be responsible to other assigned task related to PIN. 

Competencies:

  • Ability to work well with people from different background and cultures. 
  • Ability to be a creative problem solver, be proactive, and create order out of ambiguity.  
  • Organize and accurately complete multiple tasks by establishing priorities while taking into consideration special assignments, deadlines, available resources and multiple reporting relationships. 
  • Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Google Earth and GIS.
