Title: Senior Web Associate (for Nepali nationals only)
Unit: Knowledge Management and Communication

Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Head of KMC and in coordination with colleagues from across the institution, the Senior Web Associate will perform the following tasks:

  • Lead ICIMOD’s website development and maintenance including the online digital repository, HimalDoc
  • Draft strategies for website development, maintenance, and promotion 
  • Enhance and update content ensuring state-of-the-art presentation techniques
  • Proactively engage with colleagues across the institution to ensure dynamic content updates
  • Supervise web unit colleagues in component development, content uploads, and design where required
  • Strategize and execute site promotional plans, connecting with the social media strategy and ensuring evidence-based recommendations to maximize reach
  • Lead development of online portals, micro-sites, or collaborative platforms
  • Lead development and maintenance of internal knowledge-sharing platforms
  • Undertake necessary steps to ensure website security, including timely backup of the website
  • Work as a team player within KMC to support KMC-related activities in the Centre and work as a team player within ICIMOD to promote institutional goals

Minimum qualifications and requirements

  • A master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, or a related field with a minimum of three years of work experience. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • Experience with web content management and website design, development, and maintenance 
  • Experience in web analytics and strategic planning based on such evidence
  • Familiarity with either troubleshooting of system problems, or in system development and maintenance
  • Experience working with databases 
  • Experience working with intranet internal knowledge-sharing platforms and internet search engines 
  • Strong computer skills including solid understanding of PHP, MySQL, HTML, and WordPress CMS
  • Proven ability to use standard Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and preferably other Office 365 software, including SharePoint and InfoPath
  • Understanding of or experience with sustainable development issues specific to mountain regions is preferred

Duration

  • One year, with a probation period of three months, starting as early as possible, with a possibility of extension subject to performance and ICIMOD’s future funding levels.
