Position: Senior Research Specialist

Job Description

  • The Senior Research Specialist will be responsible for providing technical support and leadership to MER activities, particularly data analysis and dissemination. He/ She will be responsible for assessing and building the capacity of HKI and partner M&E staff in data management and analysis, particularly in Stata to ensure that all MER team members have the skills they need to deliver excellence in data analysis and dissemination.
  • Advise on all research-related studies, including formative/operations research, randomized controlled trials, and others as they emerge with attention to study design, tool development including Nepali and English language, sampling, and ensuring data quality.
  • Coordinate with other development organizations to reduce duplication and share learnings from Suaahara II MER
  • Support further development and implementation of a learning, knowledge sharing and capacity strengthening among Suaahara II staff, including the interpretation of data collected and analyzed and translation of key findings into program decisions
  • Lead data management and analysis for all Suaahara II quantitate data, enabling program data to be used for evidence based program decisions.  This includes annual monitoring surveys, monthly monitoring data, and other Suaahara II data 
  • Establish and maintain mechanisms for data management, analysis, reporting/sharing and applying MER findings, lessons learned, and best practices among Suaahara II staff;
  • Support dissemination of information regarding Suaahara II’s data management and analysis systems, as well as key findings, in appropriate formats as needed both internally and for external partners

Requirements for the role

  • PhD in Public Health/Nutrition and/or statistics or related field with a strong academic background in economics. Knowledge and academic experience in Public Health/Nutrition in Nepal preferred.
  • Prior experience working on integrated agriculture-nutrition-health research, including work experience in public health/nutrition/statistics in Nepal. 
  • Excellent understanding of statistical software packages, with advanced knowledge in Stata and experience building the capacity of MER staff members in the use of Stata for management and analysis of data.
  • Understanding of assessment of multi-sectoral nutrition programs and the importance of MER systems to support large-scale, complex programs.
