Job Description

The U.S. Educational Foundation/Nepal was established in 1961 by executive agreement between the governments of Nepal and the United States and has operated continuously since that time. Also known as the Fulbright Commission, it administers educational exchange programs between Nepal and the United States and provides information about American higher education opportunities to the Nepali public.   

Position: Senior Program Officer

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Senior Program Officer has overall responsibility for the long- and short-term direction of the Fulbright Program in Nepal. The successful candidate will head the development of robust, results-focused program strategies; plan and implement program outreach; publicize award opportunities; coordinate with U.S. agencies administering the Fulbright Program in grantee selection, placement, and award oversight; and interface with Fulbright grantees, alumni, academic institutions, and other partners to build and maintain a vibrant Fulbright community in Nepal. They will lead a Fulbright team consisting of a Program Officer and Program Administrator, while coordinating activities with other USEF/Nepal units including Administration, Finance, and the Education USA Advising Center.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 8 years of professional/supervisory experience of which at least 3 years includes envisioning and implementing programs in education, youth mobilization, or a related field 
  • Master’s degree or higher in any field of study
  • Proven track record in program design, management, communication, and outreach 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Nepali
  • Proven interpersonal and intercultural skills—an inclusive team player
  • Knowledge of higher education systems in Nepal and the United States
  • Experience in an educational setting in the United States is preferred
