Hydroplan Group has provided services to the renewables sector (mainly hydropower) for more than 30 years.  There are three parts to the group:-

  • Environmental, Research & Consents
  • Design, Engineering and Project Management
  • Asset Management including Operations, Maintenance and Monitoring

Renewable Energy (Hydropower and Solar) will dominate future energy systems and Storage / Private HV networks will be key features. Hydroplan  already has the breadth and scope to tackle the challenges of all these sectors.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A formal engineering qualification (Bachelor’s Degree, Masters) – likely to be Mechanical or Civil based
  • IELTS C1 / C2 English language written & spoken 
  • 7+ years’ experience with a contractor or Engineering consultancy
  • Experience of working or studying in UK with knowledge of UK codes desirable
  • A good knowledge of engineering quantities and programmes
  • Expert in the Layout, General Arrangement and detail of Concrete structures
  • Good ability with engineering calculations and design reports
  • High proficiency in M365 and SharePoint
  • Able to work within a dynamic environment with good attention to detail
  • Able to work to tight deadlines and self-manage priorities against multiple tasks


Job Description

  • Specialist in Renewable Energy systems and specifically hydropower
  • Creation of technical documents and reports associated with various projects 
  • Proficient in CAD Engineering
  • Outline and detailed design and specification of hydropower projects taking including the civil, electrical and mechanical interfaces.
  • Examining the engineering requirements of designs and comparing this with the commercial and site constraints.
  • Liaison between project managers and site staff/contractors.
  • Organize yourself and a small team of engineers, technicians (and others) working on a variety of projects.
  • Assign & manage hours for each project and manage resource so that people are fully utilised
  • Know the sequence of jobs (in the office) and pre-empt the need for information/client input
  • Manage the interface between the site-based contractor’s staff and the designers and help in resolving site based design changes.
  • Work as part of a team to suggest improvements which will benefit our clients.

Shift Work

  • The post will be required to undertake some shift work (early or late) 
  • Weekend work will be required regularly 
  • Overtime will be paid where appropriate
