Senior Compliance Officer

Nepal Water & Energy Development Company Pvt. Ltd. (NWEDC) is an energy utility company specialized in hydropower development and was established with an intention of encouraging foreign investment to work in the area of hydropower in Nepal.

NWEDC is a Special Purpose Vehicle through which KOEN, KIND, IFC (World Bank Group) and a local partner have been developing Upper Trishuli-1 (UT-1) Hydroelectric Project.

The 216 MW UT-1 Hydroelectric Project located in Rasuwa District of Nepal will annually generate 1456 GWh  of hydroelectricity and supply to the National Grid of Nepal.

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant (form Nepal/India) with Bachelor’s degree/ LLB preferred
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience in internal audit of Multi National Company with at least 1 year proven experience in establishing compliance department in an organization
  • Prior experience with international financial institution (preferred)
  • Good knowledge of international compliance requirements
  • Ability to deal with international finance organization in favor of the company
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Highly-analytical, with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent command in written and spoken skills in English


Job Description

  • Implement and manage an effective legal compliance program
  • Develop and review company policies, regulation, management and accounting system
  • Advise management on the company’s compliance with laws and regulations through detailed reports
  • Create and manage effective action plans in response to audit discoveries and compliance violations
  • Regularly audit company procedures, practices, and documents to identify possible weaknesses or risk
  • Assess company operations to determine compliance risk
  • Create SoPs as required by compliance program of the company
  • Conduct internal audit on an independent basis
