  • Prior experience in audit (public or internal) and financial data analysis is strongly preferred. 

Technical Skills: 

  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP). 
  • Strong command of Microsoft Excel and financial modeling. 
  • Familiarity with audit procedures, internal controls, and compliance standards.

Job Description

The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing the organization's accounting operations,  ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulatory standards, and supporting audits. This role plays a key part in financial data analysis and offers insights to aid strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of accounting principles, audit protocols, and experience in data analytics tools to ensure financial integrity and transparency. 

Key Responsibilities 

1. Accounting Operations 

  • Oversee daily accounting functions, including journal entries, reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, and general ledger maintenance. 
  • Prepare and maintain monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP or applicable standards. 
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring deadlines are met and data accuracy is upheld. 

2. Audit Support 

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external auditors. 
  • Coordinate the preparation of audit schedules, workpapers, and supporting documentation. 
  • Ensure timely and accurate responses to auditor inquiries. 
  • Identify and implement audit process improvements and internal controls. 

3. Data Analysis & Reporting 

  • Analyze financial data and generate insightful reports to support strategic planning and operational performance. 
  • Monitor and interpret key financial metrics and trends. 
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities by providing variance analysis and financial modeling.
  • Utilize advanced Excel functions, accounting software, and BI tools to automate and streamline reporting processes. 

4. Compliance & Controls 

  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Review, enhance, and document accounting procedures and internal controls. 
  • Participate in risk assessments and contribute to process improvement initiatives. 

5. Collaboration & Leadership 

  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior accountants and finance staff. 
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with departments such as operations, legal, and IT to support organizational goals. 
  • Assist in implementing new systems or tools related to accounting and reporting.
