Job Description

As a Senior Account Officer at our foundation, you will be responsible for overseeing the organisation's financial management and accounting operations. Your primary objective will be to ensure accurate financial reporting, regulation compliance, and efficient financial processes. You will work closely with the hospital management team, finance department, and external stakeholders to maintain financial integrity and support the hospital's mission of providing quality healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Management:

  • Implement financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and donor requirements.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, and financial reports for management .
  • Monitor the hospital's financial performance, identify trends, and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and oversee the annual audit process.

2. Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Collaborate with department heads to develop annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Monitor budget implementation, track variances, and provide regular reports to management.
  • Analyze financial data to identify cost-saving opportunities and areas for efficiency improvement.

3. Grants and Donor Management:

  • Manage financial aspects of grants and donor funding, including budgeting, reporting, and compliance.
  • Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of funds received from donors
  • Coordinate with program managers to develop budgets for grant proposals and monitor financial progress throughout the grant period.

4. Cash Flow Management:

  • Monitor cash flow, maintain accurate cash records, and oversee cash management activities.
  • Prepare cash flow projections and ensure sufficient funds are available for daily operations.
  • Implement effective strategies for cash flow optimization and working capital management.

5. Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Stay updated on relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and legal requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial reporting obligations, including tax filings and regulatory reporting.
  • Identify financial risks and implement appropriate internal controls to mitigate risks.

6. Team Leadership:

  • Supervise and mentor finance department staff, providing guidance and support.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and promote professional development opportunities.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment within the finance team.
