Job Description

  • Maintain shelving of fiction and non-fiction books in an appropriate order. 
  • Prepare displays and rotate books for promotion appropriately.
  • Regularly review Library systems and instigate improvements when needed.
  • Liaise with LM and other library staff with regard to the procurement of new books.
  • Run group interventions for students identified as weak readers or in need of support.
  • Run activities such as book clubs to encourage reading.
  • Prepare resources, lessons and small group tasks to support reading engagement and development.
  • Run study support sessions for students at lunchtime and after school.  
  • Regularly review and act on data to provide adequate and timely support to students identified including informing teachers and mentors of students in need of support and share strategies.
  • Lead on the organisation of book themed events such as World Book Day, competitions and other events.
  • Support teachers in the delivery of lessons related to reading. 
  • Respond to requests from teachers to provide support with reading, study and relevant library input.
  • Share the management of the Library budget, taking account of value for money when ordering from suppliers.
  • Ensure that all users comply with the Library Rules.
