Job Description

Duties as Subject Teacher 

  • Planning, preparing and delivering lessons 
  • Teaching according to the educational needs, abilities and achievement of the individual students and group of students
  • Assigning work, preparing question papers, correcting and marking work carried out by his/her students 
  • Assessing, recording and reporting on the development, progress, attainment and behaviour of one’s students
  • Maintaining good order and discipline amongst students under one’s care and safeguarding their health and safety at all times
  • Participating in staff, group or other meetings related to the school curriculum for the betterment and growth of the organization
  • Making use of audio-visual technological devices (such as radio aids; projectors) and other adaptations during the delivery of the lessons

Duties as Head of Department 

A. Resource Management

  • To prepare and manage the department budget within the set guidelines.

B. Leading and Managing Staff

  • To provide effective communication and guidance to staff.
  • To provide professional leadership to staff within the delegated areas of responsibility.
  • To lead and co-ordinate the professional development needs of the department.

C. Student Management

  • To ensure that students need are met.

D. Curriculum Leadership and Management

  • To contribute to development of whole school curriculum.
  • To implement national and local curriculum objectives.
  • To make recommendations regarding staffing allocations to courses.

E. Evaluation, Assessment and Reporting

  • To assess, record and analyse the achievement of students.

F. Collegiality

  • To demonstrate effective working relationships
