Job Description

Duties as Subject Teacher

Planning, preparing and delivering lessons
Teaching according to the educational needs, abilities and achievement of the individual students and group of students
Assigning work, preparing question papers, correcting and marking work carried out by his/her students
Assessing, recording and reporting on the development, progress, attainment and behaviour of one’s students
Maintaining good order and discipline amongst students under one’s care and safeguarding their health and safety at all times
Participating in staff, group or other meetings related to the school curriculum for the betterment and growth of the organization
Making use of audio-visual technological devices (such as radio aids; projectors) and other adaptations during the delivery of the lessons

Duties as Head of Department

A. Resource Management

To prepare and manage the department budget within the set guidelines.

B. Leading and Managing Staff

To provide effective communication and guidance to staff.
To provide professional leadership to staff within the delegated areas of responsibility.
To lead and co-ordinate the professional development needs of the department.

C. Student Management

To ensure that students need are met.

D. Curriculum Leadership and Management

To contribute to development of whole school curriculum.
To implement national and local curriculum objectives.
To make recommendations regarding staffing allocations to courses.

E. Evaluation, Assessment and Reporting

To assess, record and analyse the achievement of students.

F. Collegiality

To demonstrate effective working relationships
