Roles and responsibilities of this job

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Restaurant Supervisor to oversee daily operations, ensure excellent customer service, and manage staff efficiently. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, detail-oriented, and capable of maintaining smooth operations in a fast-paced café/restaurant environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Daily Operations Management

Open and close the café (cash count, cleanliness check, equipment startup/shutdown)
Ensure all stations (coffee, kitchen, cashier) are fully functional
Monitor service flow during rush hours (especially mornings & evenings)
Maintain hygiene and cleanliness standards (tables, kitchen, washrooms)
Ensure proper display of food items and menu availability

2. Staff Supervision & Scheduling

Manage daily staff attendance and shift allocation
Train new employees (baristas, servers, helpers)
Delegate tasks clearly (cleaning, prep work, serving)
Handle staff conflicts or performance issues
Motivate team to maintain energy and service quality

3. Customer Service & Experience

Greet and engage with customers when needed
Handle complaints calmly and resolve issues quickly
Ensure order accuracy and timely service
Maintain a welcoming vibe (especially important in Boudha with tourists)
Collect informal feedback from regular customers

4. Cash Handling & Sales Monitoring

Manage daily cash register and digital payments (eSewa, Khalti, etc.)
Track daily sales and report to owner
Prevent billing errors or leakage
Upsell items (combos, specials, add-ons like desserts or extra shots)

5. Inventory & Stock Control

Monitor stock levels (coffee beans, milk, bread, packaging, etc.)
Place orders or inform owner before stock runs out
Check quality of incoming supplies
Reduce wastage (especially perishable items)
Maintain a simple inventory log (Excel or manual)

6. Food & Beverage Quality Control

Ensure consistency in taste and presentation
Monitor portion sizes
Check freshness of ingredients daily
Enforce food safety standards

7. Equipment & Maintenance

Ensure coffee machines, grinders, refrigerators are working properly
Report or arrange minor repairs
Schedule regular cleaning of machines

8. Basic Marketing & Promotion Support

Help implement small promotions (happy hour, student discounts)
Encourage social media engagement (asking customers to tag/check-in)
Coordinate with owner on offers or seasonal menus

9. Reporting & Coordination

Share daily updates with owner (sales, issues, stock)
Maintain basic records (attendance, expenses, wastage)
Suggest improvements based on customer feedback

10. Problem-Solving & Responsibility

Handle unexpected issues (staff no-show, rush overload, customer complaints)
Make quick decisions in the owner’s absence
Ensure the café runs smoothly at all times

Job Specification

Required qualifications for this job

Required Education Level:Under Graduate (Bachelor)

Required Experience:More than 3 years

Other Specification

Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Business, or a related field
3–4 years of experience in restaurant/café supervision or management
Strong leadership and team management skills
Excellent communication and customer service abilities
Good organizational and multitasking skills
Basic knowledge of cash handling and inventory management
Familiarity with MS Excel or basic record-keeping tools

Preferred Skills (Bonus)

Basic English communication (for tourists around Boudha)
Knowledge of coffee basics (espresso, latte, etc.)
Familiarity with delivery apps (Foodmandu, Pathao Food)
Ability to manage both dine-in + takeaway efficiently
