Research Specialist

The Research Specialist will oversee research initiatives of USAID Clean Air program and will assist the Chief of Party (COP) and other team members with the development and implementation of USAID Clean Air’s research programs s/he will primarily work closely with USAID Clean Air’s implementing partners Energy and Policy Institute of University of Chicago (EPIC) and Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), to execute innovative ideas related to energy and air quality management.

Key Responsibilities

Assist the COP and the USAID Clean Air team, including implementing partners with strategic and operational planning, including work planning, and ensure compliance with all reporting requirements of USAID and FHI 360.
Coordinate and oversee the development and implementation of research activities, studies under USAID Clean Air, in close coordination with project team and implementing partners.
Provide guidance and support to the USAID Clean Air team on research design, field planning, data collection, data management, power calculations, and analysis.
Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to drive progress on USAID Clean Air’s research projects.
Support project partners in conducting research related activities and studies.
Support other research, policy and communication related tasks of USAID Clean Air as assigned by the COP.

Requirements

Master’s degree in economics, environment, management, public policy, or other relevant field with two to three years of experience or a bachelor’s degree with three to five years of work experience in a role with project-based assignments, with substantial client-facing components, experience in monitoring and evaluation projects, and at least a year of direct project management experience.
Experience in environment, social science or economic field research or experience conducting field research in developing countries.
Proactive in managing multiple tasks, managing, and working in the virtual work environment, and flexible and open to managing time for working with different teams in different time zones as needed.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, team building and management, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent oral and written English and Nepali including documentation skills.
