Job Description

As a part of study team, Research Associate (Agriculture) will work under the general and specific guidance of the Executive Director and Agriculture Program Coordinator and senior researchers. She/he will be stationed at NDRI office located at Pulchowk, Lalitpur, Nepal, however, may require to travel frequently to the study/project locations. The main roles and responsibilities will be to contribute to proposal development, project execution, events, publications, coordination, and enhancing external relations. Initial contract will be for one year, including two-month probation period, with the possibility of annual extension depending on candidate’s performance and availability of funds.

The specific tasks and deliverables will be as follows:

  • Scrutinize the calls for expression of interest, proposals solicited from print media, online, and random exploration, and facilitate for development of proposals related to Agriculture and relevant fields in coordination with the Executive Director and the respective program coordinators and senior researchers
  • Review of Policy frame and guidelines of the Government and national, international agencies and prepare Project Concept Notes in the field of Agriculture and proposals in different areas of interest of NDRI
  • Contribute to NDRI research projects and studies especially in the field of agriculture and related fields such as disaster risk management, climate change adaptation, etc.
  • Review literature on the state-of-the-art information on the practices of agriculture development in Nepal and other developing countries especially of the Think Tanks
  • Manage the database, computer programs and information systems (past studies, data etc.) related to agriculture
  • Coordinate with local NGO, other team members, and community people/organizations for providing necessary technical inputs, field surveys, data collection and compilation
  • Visit the selected locations/ sites of the project implementation in different districts, conduct field surveys, collect information and relevant data, and compile information to generate results
  • Co-ordinate with team members and local partners in organizing dissemination workshops, conferences, symposiums and other similar events
  • Compile all input data, programs, model set-up and outputs of recent NDRI studies on agriculture and other related field
  • Assist in preparation of research proposals and technical papers
  • Write journal/ conference papers based on NDRI research activities
  • Perform any other assignments/tasks instructed by the Executive Director, Program Coordinators and Senior researchers
