Reintegration Officer

Umbrella Organization Nepal is a non-profit, non-political, non-sectarian and Non-Government Organisation (NGO), which has been working in Nepal since 2005 and has all relevant registrations required to perform development activities in Nepal. The Organisation was set up in response to the growing number of children in Nepal whom were displaced and separated from their families by trafficking, poverty and the internal conflict in the country.

Reports to: Program Director
Salary: NPR. 30,000

PURPOSE OF POSITION 

The Reintegration officer will report directly to the Program Director but will coordinate with the Senior Education Officer and Program Director on all related issues to children and youths under Umbrella’s direct support program. 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

  • To work under the Umbrella Reintegration programme under leadership of Program Director, establishing teamwork among all team members and ensuring that all activities within the programme will be carried out in line with the organizations core objectives.
  • Monitor children who have been reintegrated/reunited with their families to ensure children are no longer at risk of trafficking, and that their needs are being met.
  • Maintain the link between the children and their family/community and identify those kids, which have no contact and try to establish it, even if there is no chance for reunification.
  • To establish productive coordination mechanisms with the Umbrella team in Kathmandu in such a way that implementation, monitoring and reporting of activities is taking place according to established objectives.
  • Build and maintain good relationships with local government, local communities and other stakeholders primarily in 22 working districts and ensure that the execution of programme activities is done in close collaboration with all stakeholders involved.
  • Ensure MoUs with relevant stakeholders are developed, signed and complied with. 
  • To work with the schools and community for social mobilization, capacity building and awareness.
  • Responsible for promoting child Rights practices through community trainings, meetings and dialogues.
  • Carry out regular monitoring visits and reports.
  • Facilitate the formation of community structures to deal with anti-child trafficking information and awareness campaigns.
  • Collection of data from the community and preparation of regular reports on activities implemented.
  • To flag up any delays or challenges in the programme to Program Director in order to ensure measures/action can be taken accurately and timely.
  • Develop case studies and success stories for the project area.
  • Prepare project visits and conduct baseline survey to the community, if needed.
  • Preparation of quarterly and annual reports and submit to Program Director.
  • Promotes and abide by internal policies and procedures including but not limited to: child protection policy, code of conduct and mandatory reporting responsibilities.
  • Any other duties deemed appropriate by Program Director.

Representation

  • Represent Umbrella Organization Nepal and its activities to key stakeholders (community, authorities, donors, other (I)NGOs, partners) in districts.
  • Play an active role in the acquisition and development of new projects/programmes.

PROFILE

Essential Qualifications, experience and competences

  • Bachelor degree in social science or other relevant subjects
  • Experience and proven skills in Child Protection and Family Reintegration 
  • Advanced communication skills, with excellent written and spoken English.
  • Ability to work independently in the field, when required.
  • Proven problem solving and organizational skills, flexible and calm under pressure
  • Supportive management style.
  • Good team worker, able to live remote under basic circumstances in an insecure environment, and work closely with a small team.
  • Advanced Computer skills (Word, Excel, E-mail).

TERMS OF CONTRACT

This will be a fixed term contract until 31st December 2024.
