Job Description

Reports To: Radiographer In-Charge

Overview:

This role is responsible for operating medical imaging equipment, including X-rays, CT scans, and MRIs, to produce diagnostic images for patient diagnosis and treatment. You are required to ensure patient comfort, follow safety protocols, and collaborate with radiologists to analyse and interpret imaging results.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Conducting all activities relating to radiographic procedures such as X-ray, CT, MRI and Bi-Plane Cathlab) to obtain images of patient in a safe and effective manner.
  • Developing films and processing digital images to obtain high quality radiographs and collaborate with your team to determine if additional images need to be taken.
  • Prioritising patient safety and comfort by appropriately positioning patients, providing clear explanation of treatment, and assisting them in preparation (including changing of clothes or removal of jewelry etc.) that may interfere with the procedure.
  • Monitoring patients' conditions and reactions and reporting abnormal signs to doctors.
  • Ensuring proper functionality and sterilization of equipment and reporting any equipment failures to the biomedical team aptly.
  • Using portable devices to conduct diagnostic scans on patients who are unable to be brought to the radiology department.
  • Recording, processing and maintaining patient data and treatment records.
  • Performing administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments (ensuring seamless communication with the receptionists), answering technical questions, and offering pre and post procedure advice.
  • Performing scheduled maintenance and emergency repairs on radiographic equipment.
  • Maintaining a safe and clean work environment by complying with hospital procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Setting safety protocols that are in accordance with established standards and obtaining patient consent prior to diagnostic imaging to fulfill legal requirements.
