Together with the Government of Nepal (GoN), civil society, and the private sector, FHI 360 works collaboratively in the areas of HIV, family planning (FP)/reproductive health (RH), health security, antimicrobial resistance, nutrition, COVID-19 response, procurement, and supply chain management, local capacity strengthening, civil society and media strengthening, governance reform and the environment and climate change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed individual timeline to carry out a qualitative study consisting of four journey mapping exercises among Muslim, Dalit, Tharu, and male clients who purchase female contraceptives; aged 15 to 29 years who are married or unmarried and have purchased and used contraception within the last six months under United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-supported MOMENTUM Private Healthcare Delivery (MPHD) Nepal in Koshi, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces.
  • Prepare and finalize topic guides according to the scope of work to conduct in-depth interviews (IDIs) and focus group discussions (FGDs).
  • Lead IDIs and FGDs in the selected municipalities within Gandaki, Koshi, and Lumbini provinces.
  • Ensure that IDIs and FGD recordings are of good quality and are transcribed.
  • Analyze findings either manually or using qualitative software owned by the consultant.
  • Work closely with an infographic designer to map out lead journey.
  • Prepare technical brief of the journey that the consultant is leading

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in public health or other related field with two years of experience in carrying out qualitative assessment/studies/research.
  • Previous work experience in conducting qualitative studies in a lead or co-lead role with government/national and international non-government organizations or as a job responsibility mainly conducting in-depth interviews.
  •  Well versed in research methodology–design qualitative topic guides, data collection, analysis, synthesis, and prepare a detailed report.
  • Previously work in conducting or involvement in journey mapping exercise is preferable. 
  • Able to analyze qualitative data using qualitative software like NVivo, ATLAS TI or manually.
  • Good understanding on Muslim, or Dalit, or Tharu communities.
  • Ability to write and communicate clearly and concisely in Nepali and English language
  • Sound knowledge and skills in computer applications such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and others.
