Job Description

The Jagaran Media Center (JMC) is a non-governmental organization established in 2000 by the journalists from Dalit community. It advocates to eliminate caste-based discrimination and create a more equitable, inclusive, and social justice through media mobilization at local, national and international level. JMC has been supporting to enhance the capacity of Dalit Journalists to promote for inclusive media, news reporting on Dalit issues. In addition, JMC has been working for promoting human rights, gender equality, disability and social inclusion (GEDSI), peace and governance, environmental justice and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR). It collaborates with different media organizations for the issues of Dalit & marginalized communities.

JMC is implementing the project " Enhancing inclusive and participatory politics in Nepal through the media mobilization". The project aims to create safe spaces for dialogue among marginalized groups, including Dalit women, indigenous communities, and persons with disabilities, ensuring their voices are heard in decision-making processes.

Detailed JOB Description/ Requirements 

1. Objective of the position: 

The major objective of the position is to ensure program execution at the local and provincial level. He/she will be responsible to prepare budget plan, program implementation plan, reporting, and smooth coordination with local stakeholder for the project implementation under the direct supervision of National Project Coordinator. JMC hereby invites qualified professionals to apply for the above position.

2. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Coordinate & collaborate with selected local government units (LGUs) of Lumbini province for the project implementation.
  • Ensure the perfect reporting, program planning, budget planning and monitoring for the project interventions at local level.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to district team to ensure timely initiation and implementation of project activities according to the set standards and quality.
  • Provide strategic and technical assistance to the projects.
  • Ensure that JMC's organizational policies as well as compliances of project is completely adhered while implementing the project's activities at district and provincial level.
  • Responsible to identify the policies and programs formulated for the Dalit and marginalized groups at the local and provincial level.
  • Develop linkages and good coordination with stakeholders and like-minded organizations, media agencies and local journalists.
  • Make the project activities transparent and visible at the district level through regular and active participation and monitoring of the project.
  • Ensure that project budget at the district level is spent rationally, timely and economically to produce maximum results.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft word, Excel, PowerPoint, photography and video documentary.
  • Knowledge on research background and data analysis along with disaggregated data

3. REQUIREMENTS: 

Bachelors Degree in sociology, humanities /Journalism or a relevant subject and minimum 5 years of working experience in NGOs/INGOs familiar with public relations. S/he will be responsible for the project and JMC activities at the local level.
