UMN recognizes a need of a growing awareness in disability and gender inclusion in Nepal thus wants to support this through its Disability Rehabilitation and Community Capacity for Peace Programs.

Position: Project Officer — Disability and Gender (Woman only) 
Location: Kapilvastu  

The job holder is responsible to build the capacity and monitor UMN’s project  implementing partners in the technical areas of Disability Inclusive Development (DID),  disability rehabilitation, gender equity and Do No Harm (DNH) to achieve UMN’s and  the partners’ strategic goals within Kapilvastu Cluster.  

Qualification and Experience: 

Essential 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science or any relevant discipline with at least two  years of relevant working experience 
  • Good understanding of disability inclusive development, gender equity, youth  mobilisation, and Do No Harm (DNH) approach in the context of development  interventions
  • Sound knowledge in advocacy and Right Based Approach
  • Have good knowledge in managing development projects, planning, budgeting,  reporting, and monitoring
  • A good trainer and eager to build the capacity of others
  • Good computer skills particularly in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook,  emails and the internet
  • Excellent language and communication skills both in Nepali and English

Desirable 

  • Ability to take initiative & work independently by taking ownership of the assigned responsibility
  • Higher experience in disability rehabilitation, gender mainstreaming and familiarity with the local context especially with the household level gender governance of Madhesi communities
  • A good team player with coaching, mentoring, and training skills 
  • Good persuading, motivating, negotiating, and mediation skills
  • Social skills necessary to build effective working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders including Rural Municipality, Youth Groups, Community Leaders, and other district level networks in the context of Kapilvastu 
  • Passionate to work in gender equality and disability inclusion
