Since then, Sahara Nepal is profoundly engaged in Public Health, humanitarian assistance, community development, decent housing & safe shelter, conservation of natural resources, and environmental protection mainly in the Hilly and Terai region of Nepal through the dozens of humanitarian and long-term development projects.
Sahara Nepal is implementing Biswas project with the partnership of FAIREMED Foundation Nepal in Jhapa and Morang district. BISWAS Project has launched “BISWAS- Building Trust and Confidence among NTD Affected and Vulnerable Population” in Koshi Province focusing on Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) Maternal and Neonatal Health (MNH) and Disability Inclusive Development (DID) as its key components. The project aims to strengthen local health system by working closely with municipalities, and promoting health-seeking behavior, educating, empowering, and mobilizing the communities and existing local groups using various participatory tools and techniques.
The proposed project will contribute to Nepal's efforts to eliminate and control the major endemic Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) by increasing treatment and care of people affected by NTDs and disabilities. In addition, it will contribute to improve maternal and neonatal health (MNH) and disability prevention and rehabilitation of people affected by NTDs.
The intervention strategy of the project will be guided by Leave No One behind (LNOB) principle focusing on reaching the furthest behind first in Nepal. The targeted interventions will address the barriers of accessing basic health care services and capitalize on the opportunities for increasing access of the marginalized population to basic health care services while integrating disability-inclusive development (DID), humanitarian support during emergencies and gender equity and social inclusion (GESI) as cross-cutting themes.
