GRAPE II is a joint Nepali-German Project under the guidance of the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation (MoLCPA), Government of Nepal, with Technical Assistance by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The overall objective of the Project is to strengthen gender-equitable and climate-resilient economic development in Nepal.

CROSIN is a development partnership with aQysta BV, Midsona and GIZ under the develoPPP Programmethat aims to support smallholder farmers in Nepal by promoting sustainable agriculture, organic certification, and climate resilience. It capacitates farmers with training, inputs, renewable energy-powered processing facilities, and market access to enhance income and sustainability.

Position: Project Manager - Agribusiness
Duty Station: Kathmandu

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation of the CROSIN project in collaboration with partners, ensuring the promotion of organic farming, value chain development, and climate resilience
  • Foster collaboration and coordination with farmer groups, cooperatives, local and provincial governments, and private sector actors
  • Oversee capacity development programmes for farmers including training programs, inputs and technology, organic certification process in coordination with private partners
  • Facilitate the scaling of commercial climate-resilient agricultural enterprises
  • Organising training workshops to enhance farmers' skills to improve productivity and quality
  • Advise on quality assurance in agricultural processes, oversee processing facility upgrades, and ensure compliance with international standards and certifications
  • Support the development of an end-to-end digital traceability system to enhance market access and transparency
  • Assist in preparing an M&E framework, track project progress, collect impact data, and ensure effective impact measurement
  • Develop best practices, case studies, and policy recommendations to facilitate the replication and scaling of successful agricultural interventions

Required qualifications and experience:

  • Master’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Natural Resource Management or a related field
  • At least 10 years of experience in project management, preferably in sustainable agriculture, value chain development, ecosystem management, climate resilience, or rural development
  • Strong understanding of organic farming, supply chains, and market development
  • Experience implementing projects for GIZ
  • Strong familiarity with gender-transformative and inclusive approaches in agriculture, forestry and private sector development
  • Expertise in stakeholder engagement, strategic planning, and institutionalization of best practices.
  • Experience with sustainability certification schemes is an advantage
