Since its establishment JJYC Bara is working on Education, Children & women Development, Economic growth & Empowerment, Health, Water, Sanitation & Hygiene, Governance and Social justice and Humanitarian Aid and Resilience community.

Job Title : Project Manager (PM)

Location: Kalaiya Bara with frequently field visits to programme districts

Line Manager: Executive Director

Overall Purpose of the Role

  • Take lead role in planning, implementation and monitoring of SAHAYATRA project
  • Take lead role in collaboration and coordination with local government and other relevant stakeholders in all the project districts
  • Take lead role to implement activities of SAHAYATRA project
  • Support to initiate baseline/endline of learning achievement and other small scale innovative research work and documentation
  • Take lead role in reporting, communication to VSO 
  • Ensure visibility and branding guideline of donor
  • Facilitate project teams, collaboration with local government and other likeminded organizations for the effective implementation 

Duties and Responsibilities

Programme Development, Planning and Implementation 

  • Take lead for the planning, implementation and monitoring of project intervention
  • Coordinate and collaborate with Programme schools, teachers, local government relevant stakeholders and other relevant staff members of JJYC and VSO Nepal for ensuring programmatic synergy and timely implementation.
  • Ensure quality service delivery
  • Assess the local need and review the relevancy of project intervention and provide inputs to the project team at VSO on a regular basis

Programme Monitoring and Reporting

  • Monitor implementation of activities through regular field visits and interactions with communities, local government bodies and other stakeholders
  • Document and disseminate promising approaches, technologies, guidelines and learning of the programme for advocacy and policy development
  • Compile various reports (monthly, quarterly, bi-annual, annual etc.) and other information related to
  • Support to conduct programmatic monitoring, reviews, assessments and evaluation of the of the programme
  • Joint monitoring project interventions with local government and documentation

Coordination and Networking

  • Maintain and establish cordial working relationship with various stakeholders from government, civil society and schools at both local and district level
  • Represent project at provincial, district and local level forums
  • Coordination with municipalities and CSOs to make them more responsible and accountable 

Financial Management

  • Manage the SAHAYATRA programme budget and ensure all expenses are according to budget and meet JJYC Bara standards with regard to financial management, compliance, accountability and governance
  • Monitor the partner budget and hold periodic review in coordination with Admin/Finance Manager

Other specific responsibilities as assigned

  • Professionally discharge assignments/ tasks delegated/dispensed by ED
  • Be proactive in bringing innovations and to take new initiatives into the program and partners
  • Ensure the effective utilization of community, national and international volunteers
  • Work as a line manager of all the project teams, support them to develop their capacity and its application

Education and Experience 

  • Completed Bachelor/Master’s degree in social science or management discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years working experience in managerial position for Bachelor or, 2 years for Masters at basic level
  • 2 years of working experience in education sector
  • Strong project management knowledge 
  • Experience working on consortium projects

Language Requirement 

  • Fluency in both spoken and written Nepali and English languages is required
  • Understand

  • Good understanding of the socio-economic and political context of Nepal 
  • Knowledge of local laws and compliances 
  • LFA, M&E and reporting skills 
  • Planning and budgeting skills 
  • Procurement management 
  • Communication and coordination skills 
  • Problem-solving, personnel management, and time management. 
  • Presentation and facilitation skills. 
  • Good command on computer application including MS Excel, Word, Power Pointed

Other Information

The Annual Leave entitlement for full-time staff is 24 working days per year, plus 13 public holidays. The other benefits are: 13th salary and office contribution to Provident Fund, Transport and Communication Allowance. Eligibility for some of the benefits will be upon completion of probation period and some may be available on a prorated basis depending upon the date of joining.
