Baliyo Nepal Nutrition Initiative (BNNI) believes that with the right nutrition, we can help the next generation realize their dreams, and help the nation reach its potential.

It aims at mobilizing and uniting all the forces that can contribute to end malnutrition: government, private sector, international and non-governmental organizations, civil society and the people of Nepal. It will develop a diversity of programs to fight the multiple facets of malnutrition. For example, work with the food industry, private sector partners, sports and entertainment celebrities and NGOs to facilitate access to complementary foods for the two thirds of 6 to 23 months old Nepali children who don’t have a minimum acceptable diet.

Job Description

General Position Summary:

  • This job description is prepared for the role ofProject Managerto manage and track project activities and deliverables of Baliyo Nepal movement in close coordination with Director of Projects and Partnerships. The movement aims to assist the government’s Multi-Sector Nutrition Plan (MSNP) - II reach its target to reduce stunting from 36% to 15%. The movement looks to bring together the collective strengths of private sector, government and civil society to address the issue of malnutrition leading to an irreversible condition of stunting in children
  • The Project Manager will be responsible for smooth and transparent operational and compliance of project activities of Baliyo Nepal, while ensuring compliance with all relevant donor, Government of Nepal requirements
  • He/she will develop systems to ensure all deliverables strictly adhered to and followed by all Baliyo Nepal team

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • The Project Manager will manage and supervise the project team, oversee program elements, including planning and implementation, monitoring systems and operational functions
  • The Project Manager will lead the project to ensure smooth functioning and delivery of target results, including monitoring and evaluation
  • Contribute to the development of the initial project implementation methodology, implementation plan, in accordance with global project management Standards and execute and oversee all project activities according to Baliyo Nepal’s guidance on best practices
  • Integrate gender lens, procedures and best practices throughout project implementation process
  • Develop detailed project activities and monitor those activities and organize the Project Team to implement project activities smoothly in the Province 5
  • Work closely with the entire Baliyo Nepal Team in Kathmandu and partners at Province 5 to ensure efficiency, coordination, information sharing and excellent planning and reporting 
  • Prepare monthly work plans, which adhere to the overall project objectives and activities and assist local partner staff
  • Organize regular field visits to ensure implementation of work is being carried out with desired quality and within stipulated time and resources
  • Coordinate with counterparts, including the local partners, government officials, and other INGOs and donors to implement project activities to complement but not overlap; synchronize nutrition program efforts of other agencies as appropriate and  develop relationships with relevant local government bodies and the private sector
  • Assist with documentation of case studies and lessons learned
  • Prepare monthly work plans, which adhere to the overall project objectives and activities 
  • Oversee the work plans, their quality and adherence to them 
  • Coordinate with MLE Hub to develop tools and facilitate its implementation to collect feedback, capturing and documenting learning
  • Organize regular field visits to ensure implementation of work is being carried out with desired quality and within stipulated time and resources
  • Prepare progress reports and provide feedback/ suggestions; technical support will be provided Global Team and the BN team
