Reports to: Program Manager East Office and technically to Microfinance Manager in Kathmandu/Central Office

Field Visits: Frequent travel to project areas (minimum 60%)

Core Function: The Project Coordinator will support the implementation of project namely “Financial Inclusion for Marginalized Women in Nepal” through local implementing partner Sahara Nepal. This position is a project-specific role, tied directly to funding from Jersey Overseas Aid (JOA), and as such, needs to ensure smooth implementation of the project in the field. It also follows Habitat Nepal’s financial inclusion strategies and planning processes that are alligned with Habitat’s Terwilliger Center for Innovation in Shelter’s (TCIS) regional and global practices.

The incumbent will support the project by providing technical assistance, training, and project administration services and will closely work with the Financial Inclusion Department at Central Office, Program Managers with exceptional interpersonal and coordination skills.  

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Project Management: 

1. Implement activities outlined in the JOA Financial Inclusion project business plan, ensuing that high quality deliverables are produced on time. Responsible for:

• Support in designing financial literacy package including printing and transportation,
• Facilitate (training of trainer) ToT on financial literacy training,
• Monitor financial literacy training to community members,
• Provide support in designing and developing IEC materials including audio and video,
• Facilitate in developing and dissemination of mass media material for community awareness on housing microfinance and safe shelter,
• Facilitate and monitor training to community facilitator and youths to conduct awareness raising campa
• Monitor awareness campaigns/events,
• Promote and adhere to the principles and objectives of Habitat Nepal and its strategy to expand access to housing finance
• Support in developing case studies and business case on financial literacy and awareness activities.

1. Coordinate with Habitat Nepal’s central FI team for required logistics to implement the planned activities at field level.
2. Review project progress and update workplan in close consultation with Program Manager of Sahara Nepal.
3. Assist Sahara Nepal team to implement Financial inclusion for marginalized women in Nepal project activities in the project working areas.

• Prepare monthly workplan in close coordination with Sahara project team
• Faclitate/Co-facilitae various training/workshops/events, monitor community level finacial literacy training and other awareness raising activities then provide feedback to facilitators
• Support Sahara team for quality data collection and management
• Collect feedback from community and recommend areas of improvement
• Ensure qulity delivery through monitoring and coaching services
• Support consultants to conduct baseline survey, midline survey, endline survey, mid-term and final evaluation of the project.
• Gather data/information from implementing partners and prepare project reports.

Partnership Strengthening: 

• Support Habitat Nepal’s central financial inclusion team in partnership development efforts. 

Partners’ Activity Monitoring and Coordination:

• Monitor partners for proper use of project budget, verify the activity related expenses and recommend to Central team.
• Coordinate with field level partners, local authorities, and other stakeholders.
• Assist Senior Manager-FI to manage and develop relationships in country with key stake holders in the microfinance, social and development finance institutions.
• Coordinate with local level financial institutions to promote housing microfinance.
• Document progress, resolve issues, and initiate improvements when needed.
• Prepare reports on activities, outputs and outcomes for donor and funding organizations.
• Travel as necessary to support project design, development and implementation.
• Coordinate with other departments, other project team and establsh good relationship.
• Other related duties as assigned by National Director and Senior Manager-Financial Inclusion.

Education Qualification, Professional Experience:

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in economics, business, finance, international development, or related field. A Master’s Degree preferred

Minimum five years of experiences in:

• adult education
• financial literacy and awareness campaign
• curriculum testing and providing Training of Trainers (TOT)
• Experiences in project management and implementation.

Technical skills

• Financial literacy and Microfinance - Experience of working with saving & credit groups, financial product marketing.
• Project Management - Demonstrated ability to define projects and initiatives and monitor implementation for effective realization of intended benefits and outcomes; Deliver reports on time.
• Capacity to lead training sessions, and the creation of training session materials. Good people management skills with the ability to communicate cross-culturally and work in teams

Preferred skills

• Experience in participatory community development and savings group mobilization.
• Works well in teams with a preference for transparency and collegial decision-making with an attitude to learn and share knowledge.
• Interpersonal communication and coordination skills
• Balances the needs and interests of various stakeholders, internal and external, while determining priorities and allocates time and resources effectively. 
• Demonstrated ability to work with external consultants and deliver project’s milestones.  
• Capacity to write and oversee writing of technical proposals for grants and/or contracts. 

Language: Excellent in Nepali and English (Reading, writing, and speaking).
