KOSHISH is a non-governmental self-help organization registered in District Administration Office, Kathmandu in 2008 and affiliated with Social Welfare Council. KOSHISH is a right-based organization working extensively in advocacy in and multi-disciplinary and holistic mental health and psychosocial support in Nepal. In addition, KOSHISH is also working in system strengthening and creating a model that the government and other stakeholders may able to replicate.

  • Excellent understanding of human rights-based approach and familiarity with core International Human Rights Treaties including the UNCRPD, CEDAW and CRC. 
  • Have a proven experience of project management in the field of social development.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with and in public health issues (including mental health) or disability (including psychosocial disability); preferably with familiarity on key issues in global health policy in relation to mental health and psychosocial disabiity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation & public relation skills in both English and Nepali and including writing for expert and general audiences and public speaking.
  • Ability to use initiative, prioritize, multi-task, and work well under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Creative and out of the box thinker, with demonstrated track record of analytic problem‐solving/seeking solutions to challenges.
  • Well-versed in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel etc.
  • Have a great capacity for organization, synthesis and report writing.
  • Clear and systematic thinking that demonstrates good judgment and problem-solving competencies.

Job Description

  • Design advocacy strategies, tools and organizational engagement plans in collaboration with the project team and take the lead of Advocacy Unit in the organization
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of laws, programs, policies and regulations related to mental health and psychosocial disability at the Federal Level
  • Develop strategic partnership with national and international partners and strengthen avenues for collaboration
  • Communicate and lobby with high level government authorities and concerned stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to highlight the issues of mental health and psychosocial disability.
  • Develop advocacy letters on pertinent issues relating to mental health and psychosocial disability and form delegations to stakeholders
  • Follow up with government authorities and other concerned stakeholders
  • Field visit in the existing target area of the KOSHISH and collect evidences that reflects content and local context
  • Provide capacity building trainings on advocacy to KOSHISH staffs
  • To work on de-stigmatization and sensitization through media mobilization
  • Support to develop Information Education and Communication materials 
  • Preparation of annual, semi-annual, periodic and event reports

Reports to: Program Director

Education Level: Master`s Degree or equivalent in human rights, international relations, law, disability, social work or any other related field

Experience Required: A minimum 6 years of experience in carrying out advocacy initiatives at the Federal/ Provincial government authorities.

Job Location: Kathmandu with frequent field visits to target locations

Remuneration and Benefit: Negotiable as per competence and experience
