Street Child is an international charity based in the United Kingdom that aims to create avenues for out-of- school children to access education by through an integrated approach that strengthens the capacity of teachers, schools and communities to sustain their investment in the education for their children.

Following the devastating earthquakes in April and May 2015 that left more than 1 million children out of school and destroyed or damaged over 50,000 classrooms, Street Child UK expanded its operations into Nepal to assist local partners to re-establish education in some of the country’s worst affected communities. 

With the support of DFID, it is now implementing education and livelihood program targeting marginalized girls in Mahottari, Dhanusha, Siraha, Saptari and Sunsari districts in Nepal.Street Child of Nepal is therefore calling applications in following position for the implementation of its new program:

Job Description

Reports To: Country Director
Working Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00am to 5:30 pm

Objective/Purpose of the Position:

The Program Manager is responsible for all implementation aspects of SCON programs, including monitoring and evaluation and finance. The Program Manager acts as the focal point for all programme related issues and is responsible for proper coordination between all program related stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organizing projects and activities in accordance with the mission and goals of the organization
  • Developing new projects together with the Partner Organization to support the strategic direction of the SCON Programs
  • Creating and managing long-term goals
  • Developing a budget and operating plan for new projects
  • Developing an evaluation method to assess program strengths and identify areas for improvement
  • Writing project funding proposals to donor and guide our Implementing Partners
  • Managing a team with a diverse array of talents and responsibilities
  • Implementing and managing changes and interventions to ensure project goals are achieved
  • Meeting with stakeholders to make communication easy and transparent regarding project issues and decisions on services
  • Producing accurate and timely reporting of project status throughout its life cycle
  • Analysing potential program risks and their countermeasures
  • Working on strategy with the Country team
  • Regular monitoring all the projects and activities

Required Qualifications:

  • University degree in Social Science, Community Development, Management or related field
  • Proven experience in program management (minimum 3 years)
  • Proven stakeholder management skills
  • Proven experience managing a team
  • Experience using computers for a variety of tasks
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Understanding of the concepts of project management
