Location: Kathmandu, Nepal
Salary: As per VSO Nepal policy
Contract Type: Fixed Term
Full Time: 35 hours per week

Role Overview

  • To continuously improve the quality of VSO programming in Nepal and support in sustaining the program diverse income base
  • To maximize the impact of VSO’s contribution to combating poverty and disadvantage through imaginative and effective programming and in line with VSO’s global portfolio
  • Raise the profile of VSO with stakeholders in Nepal
  • Ensuring opportunities for VSO Nepal and partners to effectively maximize their own contribution to development

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience in integrated development programming including in Inclusive Education, Inclusive Governance and Youth
  • Strong experience managing complex projects in international development settings including Nepal
  • Proven track record in developing competitive proposals and concepts for funding from key donor agencies like USAID, EU, and DFID
  • Representation and negotiation skills – Ability to negotiate and maintain relations with external stakeholders targeting funding communities for marketing and negotiating on project ideas
  • Sound understanding of partnership trend with proven ability to research and assess new opportunities to realise significant restricted income
  • Previous experience leading on partnership and teaming agreements, sub-grant agreements, and consortia bid development
  • Familiarity with diverse models of volunteer engagement and the volunteer journey – proven ability to leverage volunteer involvement to deliver social change outcomes
  • Computer skills – MS Office, Outlook, and virtual office tools
  • Willingness to travel and spend time away from base/home as required
  • Master’s degree in social science, international development, education or similar
  • Strong familiarity with written, verbal and presentation approaches used in international settings – experience of leading and facilitating workshops and training
  • Good understanding of Nepal’s context
