Job Description

The Programme Officer (PO) will lead the implementation of projects in Banke Bardia Shukla Complex (BBSC) in coordination with local implementation partners and other key stakeholders including Department of National Parks and Wildlife Reserve (DNPWC) and local communities.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation of field implementation plans for ongoing projects in the BBS complex.
  • Lead the compilation and presentation of key findings from data collected on wildlife movement and dispersals, present status of Human Wildlife Conflict (HWC) and plans to mitigate HWC.
  • Create and maintain good working relationships with DNPWC, local implementation partners, local communities, and other key stakeholders.
  • Prepare and present intervention of best livelihood schemes in line with project agreement and scope.
  • Develop an integrated livelihood and recovery programme implementation plan based on outcomes of socio-economic surveys.
  • Maintain regular communication and coordinate with project partners, local community, and other stakeholders.
  • Track project activities, implementation plans, and timeline set forth by the project.
  • Oversee capacity building sessions for park officials, implementing partners and other key stakeholders.
  • Lead and monitor the project budget spending and status.
  • Prepare reports in compliance with the project needs.
  • Maintain regular communications with Human Wildlife Coexistence champions (HWCx) making sure they have the capacity to carry out delegated tasks and identify additional capacity building requirements.
  • Finalise the HWC mitigation and livelihood restoration plan.
  • Prepare and communicate monthly activities to the Kathmandu office with highlights of all the tasks carried out during the month and plans for the next one.
  • Supervise and mentor the Field Programme Officer and Programme Associate
  • Carry out any other activities as assigned by the line manager.
