Role overview

Manage a team of specialists and oversee project implementation (via local organizations) including managing the annual work plan and budgeting process; creating/maintaining an effective project management team; overseeing an effective monitoring and evaluation system; and coordinating activities and local implementing partners to achieve results. Inculcate activism, advocacy and agency building.

Skills, qualifications and experience

Knowledge/qualifications:

  • Minimum of a master’s degree in social science, or community development required.
  • Have an understanding of Volunteering for Development
  • Demonstrated knowledge of FCDO policies, procedures and approaches related to program design/implementation, budgeting and monitoring and evaluation.

Experience:

  • Senior project management experience with at least 5 years in the implementation and management.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with marginalized groups in Nepal with a proven track record of delivering participatory evidence-based programming approach as well as practical experience of resilience, social accountability, social inclusion and gender is preferable
  • Experience in security and risk management, and in managing duty of care to highest international standards

Skills/Abilities:

  • Leadership and People management in working across multiple cultural contexts
  • Demonstrated capacity to build and maintain productive working relationships with a wide network of partners and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to convert technically complex concepts into plain language desired.
  • Ability to travel locally and internationally as required for the role.
  • Proven ability to coordinate with government stakeholders, as well as non-governmental organizations.
  • Good written and oral communication skills in English and Nepali.
  • knowledge in local language from Madhesh Pradesh and/or Karnali will add value.

Desired selection criteria

  • Practical experience within a volunteering INGO context and managing a volunteer programme.
  • Experience of working in a global organization with matrix or multiple reporting lines.
