National Indigenous Women Forum (NIWF) was founded in 1998 aiming to make development programs for women and indigenous peoples successfully; to organize and empower indigenous women from local to national levels on common issues of women; and work for equity and equality by having common objectives on women’s common issues. There are not only common problems and issues of indigenous women and other women and also of indigenous women and indigenous men but also distinct problems and issues that are unique to indigenous women. Therefore, the National Indigenous Women Forum (NIWF) was established to support and raise awareness of indigenous women, to intensify advocacy for securing rights of indigenous women and indigenous children, and to run programs with focus on advocacy, training, discussion, interaction, study and research. NIWF supports indigenous women to be an equal partner in the national development.

  • Experience in working with Indigenous Women and Indigenous Peoples’ organizations

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to timely execution of assigned tasks responsibilities 
  • Proactive, self-motivated, creative, and energetic
  • Excellent communication skills in written and verbal English. Knowledge of any Indigenous Language will be an asset
  • Skilled in preparing substantive programme, project and monitoring reports
  • Computer literate including the use of Microsoft Office
  • Positive attitude to working in a multi-cultural environment
  • Flexible to do multi-tasking and to work under pressure
  • Willing to travel in project areas within Nepal 


Job Description

Summary of Position:

Under the direct supervision and guidance of the Executive Director, the Programme Coordinator (PC) will be responsible for overall coordination, management, monitoring and reporting of the programme, projects, and the project resources. The PC shall report directly to the Executive Director. 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities 

Programme and Project Management:

  • Prepare and ensure the implementation of NIWF’s annual plan and related activities under the projects
  • Prepare project activity plan as per the agreement signed with the donors
  • Prepare monthly work plan on timely manner and update on any changes to the Executive Director
  • Monitor and ensure the effective, efficient, and timely implementation of projects and related activities including finance matters
  • Prepare and submit project and activity reports to the Executive Director
  • Ensure the compliance organisational policies and guidelines while implementing the project activities
  • Ensure the systematization and updating of project related files and reports and list of publications/materials including list of networks and other databases as needed
  • Consolidate the reports (narrative and finance) and submit to the respective donors on time
  • Prepare the MOU, guidelines and templates for the focal persons/Field staff and community groups, as required
  • Coordinate meetings with NIWF Board members, Consortium members and Donors for effective project implementation and management
  • Participate in fund raising for the organisation in close collaboration with Executive Director and Admin/Finance Officer
  • Coordinate and organise field level activities and monitoring visits in consultation with the Executive Director
  • Monitor and provide support to Field level staff and volunteer for the project implementation
  • Prepare project monitoring reports
  • Prepare draft Annual Organizational Report
  • Maintain regular, timely and efficient communication to Executive Director and Donors and act promptly and proactively
  • Attend meetings organised by NIWF Board and Executive Director 

Financial Management: 

  • Work closely with Finance and Admin officer for regular review and monitor of the financial matters related to the projects
  • Coordinate finance disbursement and finance monitoring with the support of Finance Officer
  • Review and comment on financial reports received from the finance staff
  • Prepare project and activity budget and ensure the consistency in term of budget lines submitted to the donor  
  • Approve the project budget and project finance transaction including ensuring the completion and accuracy of the request including supporting document in the requests
  • Assist the finance staff in project audit including review the audit finding and provide recommendation to the Executive Director with the support from Admin-Finance Officer
  • Conduct regular meetings with Finance and Admin Officer for regular update and planning
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the Chairperson and Executive Director
