LOOM works towards harnessing the collective power of women through multi-generational activism, where activists across ages and experiences connect, organise and transform the structures that obstruct our equality. We are a group of individuals and organisations dedicated to movement building, young women’s leadership, sexuality and bodily integrity, LBTQ rights, and feminist politics of the internet.

We aim to bridge feminist leadership and collectives of women’s rights activists and between activists for learning and support, solidarity and sustainability;

Engage in Feminist Epistemologies as a process to collectively produce new and diverse knowledge that dismantles patriarchy, challenges the status quo and sets new agendas;

Advocate for recognition of sexuality as bodily autonomy and human rights rather than prevention of diseases and

Engage with the internet as a political space; we recognise that online violence is a manifestation of offline violence and we build and promote a digital movement that addresses such phenomena.

Job Description

Job Scope:

The programme coordinator is a senior level leadership position at LOOM. The coordinator will oversee the design, compatibility and execution of all programme components at LOOM. As a movement based organisation it is expected for changes to be made as required based on the needs of related stakeholders, the program coordinator should be able to evaluate such needs and make call for action. They will work under the leadership of the Executive Chair and with a team of officers to implement the annual plan and strategic directions. The coordinator is in charge of all reporting’s both internal and external in nature including timely publication and overseeing the feminist knowledge management component

Projects to be led by the program coordinator will include working with community level women’s organisations, capacity bridging of women’s right advocates and women human right defenders, and engaging in local and national level advocacy relating rights of women and girls

This position calls for advanced managerial capacity and the ability to manage time efficiently between different programme areas of LOOM. The programme coordinator will maintain relations with national and international partners, global movement stakeholders and community based collaborators who are a key priority of the organisation

Engagement with local governments, and maintaining legal compatibility at all work levels is of high priority. The programme coordinator must be willing to travel frequently

Required skills and knowledge: 

  • Willingness to consistently learn and take the organisation further
  • Personal commitment and passion to promote rights of women, girls and young people without refraining to conventional modalities of engagement
  • Skills and knowledge in managing programmes and projects, developing plans, tracking progress and working with people
  • In depth understanding of the political, social, economic and legal context of Nepal
  • Experience and knowledge of working with women’s movement and networks including designing campaigns and policy advocacy will be an asset
  • You believe in collective power, participatory discussions, and grow together with the team 
  • Ability towards designing financial plan and monitoring
  • Ideas to organise, facilitate and bridge skills and knowledge
  • Skills to research , evidence generation and analysis of context
  • Ability to generate concepts for publications and plan for media content including close understanding and of working with social media, and internet based advocacy

Required Qualification:

  • Minimum of three to five years of working experience in development work, law, women’s rights, sexuality, gender and technology including a Master’s degree or relevant study in similar areas
  • Advanced skills working with basic computer applications and familiarity with online mediums 
  • Excellent command in both Nepali and English language. Must be able to type in Nepali. Knowledge of another local languages will be an asset
  • ICT skills - MS Office, Basic Photoshop including familiarity with database management applications
