Himalayan HealthCare, Nepal (HHC) an NGO wishes to employ a young talented hardworking individual who can help manage HHC program activities and be able to work with people with compassion and empathy.
He\she will be directly under the guidance of Director of Operation with advice from HHC board of directors, founder and senior officers. This is a great learning experience which can lead to higher future opportunities in bigger international agencies in-country and abroad.
The Employee will be stationed in Rapti Municipality in Chitwan district for majority of the time as long as the project is continued, not limited to child nutrition activities. She/he will also be visiting other locations like Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality, Ruby Valley RM or any other municipalities.
This responsibility entails field visits especially in remote villages which include lots of hiking in difficult terrain and in all kinds of weather, also interacting with leaders and members of varied ethnic groups to win their hearts and minds and to learn about their issues and find ways to help them. We are to serve the communities and not the other way round.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The employee will agree to carry out the following tasks (which are not limited to these mentioned below):
Management and liaison work:
- Understand HHC’s vision and scope of work. Learn about its rural projects
- Help manage HHC village programs
- Represent HHC in districts for good name and good profile
- Coordination and liaison with District offices like CDO, District Health Office, Rural Municipalities and other line agencies
- Help HHC with approval, licensing, reporting at district and municipal levels
- Attend meetings on HHC’s behalf at District and municipal levels including District and municipal council meetings
- Guide, support, escort HHC international volunteers as needed
- Facilitate external monitoring teams of SWC (Samaj Kalyan Parisad) and support or brief on HHC activities; help them meet with rural municipal and district officials
- Manage and ensure program activities are running smoothly, on time, within budget
- Make project calendar and follow it including informing village and other stakeholders on time
- Help design and help with plan of new and follow-up village program/project after discussion with municipal leaders and local committees
- Monitor and evaluate programs and projects as instructed by HHC
- Providing guidance to local staffers for smooth operation of programs through discussions
- Keenly pursue new ideas for village projects
- Keep in touch with political and other changes including other NGO activities and projects to avoid duplication and also compete in a healthy environment
Reporting:
- Report as asked on program updates to Director of Operation and immediate senior officer/s
- Prepare weekly, monthly and annual reports as per format provided and also learn and teach Himalayan HealthCare phone app
- Help prepare data for HHC annual report
- Daily reporting via email/messenger in format provided by HHC of daily activities
- Meet report submission deadlines for specific donors as requested
- Prepare and submit necessary reports to line agencies
- Update and report field office inventory (all assets - fixed and others)
- Quarterly program briefing - achievement & weaknesses and redesign as required
- Keep record of program related expenses in an transparent manner and report to office on weekly basis
- Carry out rural municipality level public hearing meeting twice a year about the activities carried out and the achievement made by the organization
- Help organize/manage training camps, medical trek camps, nutrition camps, etc.
- Help with toilet building including selection of recipients, identifying supplier, transport of materials and distribution and follow-up on construction and brief families on its proper use and maintenance; report fully to HHC
- Supervise HHC experimental farm and monitor/supervise all activities and report on weekly basis; encourage farmers to use solar dryer to dry excess vegetables; encourage farmers to grow off seasonal vegetable in the tunnel
- Maintain report on agricultural inventory (seeds/seedlings sold, amount of vegetables grown and sold, record of tools/equipment etc.)
REQUIREMENTS & BENEFITS:
- Stationed in Rapti Municipality with reporting periods in Lalitpur HQ office every two months.
- Duty hours: 9 AM to 5 PM, six days a week with one hour lunch break. Duty time and days can be adjusted as required in the field with approval from Director of Operation. Duty hours and leave as per the HHC human resource manual.
- Rs. 40,000 per month (including taxes & field living expenses) for first 3 probation months after which Rs. 45,000 (for anyone with 1 to 2 years of experience, less experience less remuneration)
- Dasain Bonus provided as per admin manual; phone card Rs. 750 per month for reporting purposes
- Medical coverage of Rs. 50,000 per year for employee and immediate family only (spouse, maximum 3 children under 21) for treatment within Nepal. Details in admin and HR manual
- Annual leave: 12 days, additional government holidays like Dasain and Tihar granted.
- Sick leave: As and when required, with doctor’s prescription for more than two days
