Academic Qualifications and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Political Science, International Development or related field, Master’s preferred; 
  • Experience in sub-grant management with local CSOs; 
  • Relevant four years’ experience working with political parties/international organizations  and/or working on democracy building, elections, civic activism and community  organizing; 
  • Experience in management, development and program implementation. 

Required Skills and Abilities: 

  • Strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity to interact effectively with a broad range  of internal and external stakeholders; 
  • Excellent communications skills in Nepali and English to engage others, present  information and respond to questions; and produce clear and concise written work
  • Capacity to work both independently and as a member of a team; 
  • Willingness to work longer hours, when required; 
  • Strong working knowledge of PC-based word processing and spreadsheet applications and experience with Google Apps (Gmail, Calendar, Google Drive, G+, etc.); 
  • Ability and willingness to travel to remote and difficult to reach locations; 
  • Gather, understand, analyze and report on the political environment; 
  • Identify and introduce concepts and proposals for programmatic intervention;  
  • Excellent English and Nepali speaking, writing and translation skills are required; 
  • Strong familiarity with presenting ideas in front of others; 
  • Experience in managing events; tackling operational challenges in a structured manner. 


Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Contributes to program implementation and evaluation; manage daily operations under the day-today supervision of the Political Program Director; 
  • Assists in designing and organizing training activities; 
  • Cooperates with program staff in drafting and editing memos, reports, including the editing of reports submitted by partner organizations; 
  • Serves as a program point of contact, maintains relations with partners and stakeholders, represents the program at appropriate program activities; 
  • Maintains cooperative working relations within the NDI Nepal and DC offices; 
  • Coordinates with Administrative/Finance team in reviewing budgets and expenditures; 
  • Travels as necessary to monitor program implementation; 
  • Works with the Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist in collecting data and measuring program impact; 
  • Participate in regular activities and meetings with program partners and stakeholders; 
  • Analysis of national political developments; 
  • Maintains strict neutrality in dealing with program activities; 
  • Sets up senior level meetings for senior staff with relevant local interlocutors; 
  • Performs other assignments as and when necessary, as assigned by senior staff.
